Indian international will cost the Red and Gold Brigade approximately ₹11 crore in total.
Indian Super League (ISL) club East Bengal have made a significant move in the transfer market by securing Indian international Jeakson Singh. The midfielder has travelled back to India from Kerala Blasters’ pre-season camp in Thailand to undergo a medical and complete his move to East Bengal.
Agreement Details
Today, an agreement between Kerala Blasters and East Bengal was reached for an approximate ₹3.2 crore transfer fee, which doubled after another ISL club went head-to-head with East Bengal as the Blasters allowed the bidding war. East Bengal faced tough competition from two other ISL teams for Jeakson Singh, the first Indian player to score a goal at any FIFA World Cup competition. East Bengal has agreed to a three-year deal with the player, with an option to extend it for another year.
“East Bengal have agreed terms with Kerala Blasters for an approx ₹ 3.2 crores for the transfer of Jeakson Singh. The club have also agreed a 3+1 year deal with the player. The final paperwork will be signed in the next few hours. He is likely to earn around ₹ 2.5 crores + bonuses per year,” said a source close to the transfer.

Jeakson Singh’s impact
The 23-year-old midfielder has been an important part of both India and Kerala Blasters‘ squads recently due to his reliability in the defensive midfield position. The Blasters had no option but to sell him as his contract was set to expire after the 2024-25 season and new contract talks were rejected by the player’s representative.
Jeakson Singh played 86 matches for the Blasters, becoming a fan-favourite and a key player under Ivan Vukomanović. The Manipur-born midfielder was part of the India U-17 team at the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017. His performances for Kerala Blasters earned him a debut for the India senior team in March 2021 against Oman.
East Bengal’s strategic moves
East Bengal have been searching for a top-tier Indian defensive midfielder since the start of the summer transfer window. With the acquisition of Jeakson Singh, their fans will feel they have secured the best available option in the market.
Earlier in the window, East Bengal signed last season’s Golden Boot winner, Dimitrios Diamantakos, from Kerala Blasters and the highest assist-provider, Madih Talal, from Punjab FC. Since then, the club have focused on extending contracts with key players like Saul Crespo, Cleiton Silva, Hijazi Maher, Mohamad Rakip and Nishu Kumar.
They have also added squad players like David Lalhlasanga, Mark Zothanpuia, Provat Lakra and Debjit Majumder. With Jeakson Singh’s signing, fans will feel the club are ending the transfer window as strongly as it started.
Tactical Advantage
Jeakson Singh’s acquisition means East Bengal can afford an extra foreign attacker in the playing XI, as the Indian international provides foreigner-level quality in the defensive midfield position.
