East Bengal FC lifted the ISL 2025-26 title

After 13 matchweeks played across a span of three months in a difficult but interesting ISL season, it all went down to the wire as five teams were still in contention to win the ISL title.

For the first time in the history of ISL, four games were played simultaneously across four different venues, and the title race was hanging like a pendulum. East Bengal had the upper hand but conceding early against Inter Kashi felt like they may have to wait a bit more

But the Red and Gold Brigade were in mood to let this golden opportunity slip away and goals from Youssef Ezzejjari and Rashid saw East Bengal making a historic comeback to make it 2-1. East Bengal led by Oscar Bruzon became champions of India after 22 years.

However, it was not easy for players to compete at their full potential amid uncertainties, foreign players and coaches departing clubs, and franchises suspending their operations temporarily. But few players made extraordinary contributions to help their team come closer to victory.

In this article, we take a closer look at all the individual award winners of ISL 2025-26 season.

Golden Boot: Youssef Ezzejjari (East Bengal)

Take out Youssef’s 11 goals, and Mohun Bagan SG would have been the ISL Champions. If there is one man who played a big role in helping East Bengal end their trophy drought, it is the Spanish striker, Youssef Ezzejjari, who had an absolute thriller of a season.

Apart from just scoring goals, he found the back of the net when his team needed him the most. In the title decider against Inter Kashi, it was Youssef Ezzejjari who scored the equaliser against the Varanasi outfit to shift the entire momentum in East Bengal’s favour.

He was ahead of Jamie Maclaren by one goal but his terrific goal scoring form saw East Bengal scoring the most goals this season, as they surpassed Mohun Bagan in goal difference.

Golden Ball: Miguel Figueira (East Bengal)

Brazilian midfielder Miguel Figueira had a stellar campaign and gave the highest assist this season. He was unarguably one of the best players of the tournament with seven goal contributions and played almost every game for the Red and Goal Brigade.

This was his debut season in the Indian top division, and he was coming after winning top honors in the Bangladesh topflight with Basundhara Kings. He also had the experience of playing in Brazilian Serie A with Goaia during his teenage days.

From locking out tight games, controlling possession and dominating the midfield, he played a massive role in helping East Bengal become ISL Champions. He continues to win silverware everywhere he goes.

Golden Glove: Hrithik Tiwari (FC Goa)

The custodian from FC Goa has risen as one of the best goalkeepers in India this season. From defending the post against top strikers like Joao Felix and Sadio Mane to clinching the most clean sheets, Hrithik Tiwari has been conferred the ISL Golden Glove winner for ISL 2026.

Despite having Lara Sharma in the squad, Manolo relied on young Hrithik, who never disappointed the Spanish tactician. He was tied with Phurba of Mumbai, who also had five clean sheets, but Hrithik conceded less goals, making him the best keeper of the season.

He went on to secure clean sheet against top teams like Mumbai City FC and East Bengal. The young 24 year old custodian was also named in Khalid’s preliminary squad for the Unity Cup and is in brilliant form.
