NorthEast United vs Mohun Bagan Player Ratings: Gurmeet, Nikhil shine as Pramveer disappoints

The Highlanders strike late to secure three points against Mohun Bagan SG.

The fifth match of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 between NorthEast United FC and Mohun Bagan SG ended with joy for the hosts as the Highlanders fought back against the reigning IFA Shield Champions to grab a late 90+2nd minute goal courtesy of Jithin MS.

The match was highlighted by the brilliant display put forth by NorthEast United despite the very recent disappointing 7-2 result against East Bengal FC during the Pre-Season in IFA Shield.

Mohun Bagan SG threw everything at the hosts in an attempt to score a goal but found themselves missing close chances more often than not. The Mariners were riddled with offsides, woodwork and missed chances throughout the game.

With both teams putting in everything in the game, let us take a look at the player ratings of the match between NorthEast United FC and Mohun Bagan SG.

Gurmeet Singh – 8/10

Gurmeet made some important saves for NorthEast against Mohun Bagan.

Gurmeet was solid for the Highlanders against Mohun Bagan SG and pulled off some very good saves throughout the game. In a game where the Mariners were on the front foot for majority, Gurmeet looked comfortable, settled and made more than four saves.

He was good with his ball distribution as well and perhaps was among the brightest names for NorthEast United.

Pramveer Singh – 6/10

NorthEast United vs Mohun Bagan Player Ratings: Gurmeet Singh, Nikhil Barla shine as Pramveer disappoints
Pramveer played his first ISL game for NorthEast United against Mohun Bagan.

Pramveer Singh who started as a left-back, looked a little unsettled in his first ISL game for the Highlanders. The youngster later made a centre-back pairing with Eneko after Asheer was taken off but failed to deliver much.

In the second half, he almost cost the Highlanders the match, when he made a silly mistake losing the ball to Sahal Abdul Samad. However, the youngster still has a lot of room to improve.

Rabeeh – 6.5/10

NorthEast United vs Mohun Bagan Player Ratings: Gurmeet Singh, Nikhil Barla shine as Pramveer disappoints
Rabeeh had a good outing against Mohun Bagan.

Rabeeh looked decent all around the pitch and made some inviting runs and crosses in the opponent box. He was also good while defending for the Highlanders.

All-in-All it was a good night for Rabeeh against Mohun Bagan SG.

Antonio Moyano – 7/10

Antonio played a key role for the Highlanders in the midfield. Battling it out toe-to-toe against the Mohun Bagan midfielders, the Spaniard played some crucial forward balls for NorthEast United as well.

Overall, Moyano was solid in the midfield and contributed very well on both sides of the pitch.

Ethyan González – 6.5/10

NorthEast United vs Mohun Bagan Player Ratings: Gurmeet Singh, Nikhil Barla shine as Pramveer disappoints
Ethyan made his ISL debut against Mohun Bagan SG.

Ethyan had a decent outing against the Mariners.

The Spaniard did make some good runs forward, but was unable to contribute much to the game. He was eventually subbed off, making way for Nikola Ninkovic.

Asheer Akhtar – 6.5/10

Asheer Akhtar started in defence alongside Eneko and put in a decent shift before being substituted at halftime to make way for Jithin against Mohun Bagan.

Maya – 6.5/10

Maya put in a decent shift in midfield playing alongside Macarton and Moyano but went missing at times.

There is room for improvement going forward, though he had a fairly good outing overall against the Mariners.

Alaaeddine Ajaraie – 7/10

Alaaeddine Ajaraie was solid for the Highlanders against Mohun Bagan SG. He played a floating role in the forward line and often switched places from the left to the right flank.

Alaaeddine overall had a good game, however, failed to get his name on the scoresheet this time.

Macarton Nickson – 6.5/10

Macarton put in a decent shift in midfield but needs to contribute more going forward and improve his overall impact on the game. At multiple instances, he looked sloppy in the midfield.

Eneko Satrústegui – 7/10

Eneko Satrústegui was the main man for the Highlanders at the back. The experienced centre-back played really well against the Mariners and dealt with their attacking threats quite comfortably.

There is, however, still a little bit of rustiness which is likely to go away as the league progresses.

Nikhil Barla – 8/10

Nikhil Barla had a wonderful performance for the Highlanders at right-back, making some crucial blocks and defending well throughout the game against Mohun Bagan.

He switched off at times but looked comfortable overall and handled his role very well.

Substitutes

Parthib Gogoi – 6.5/10

Parthib looked good coming off the bench and had a decent contribution in the game. He made some good counter attacking chances and looked fresh off the bench.

Nikola Ninkovic – 7/10

The Serbian, Nikola Ninkovic, brought a new wave of attacking intent and positivity with him. He played some wonderful deliveries into the box and threatened the Mariners on multiple occasions.

He was also involved in the winning goal and had a pretty good outing against Mohun Bagan SG.

Jithin MS – 8/10

Jithin came on in the second half and was actively involved in the game, bringing energy and attacking intent to the Highlanders.

He kept pushing forward and saved his best moment for the end, scoring a dramatic 90+2nd minute winner to seal a crucial victory for NorthEast United FC.

Thoiba – 6.5/10

Came late in the end and had a decent outing for the Highlanders.

Redeem Tlang – 6.5/10

Redeem replaced Nikhil Barla late in the second half and had a decent outing for the Highlanders.

Mohun Bagan SG Player Ratings (By Saikat Sengupta)

Vishal Kaith – 7/10

NorthEast United vs Mohun Bagan Player Ratings: Gurmeet Singh, Nikhil Barla shine as Pramveer disappoints
Kaith had a decent outing against the Highlanders.

Kaith was seen moving out of the D box too many times to initiate attacks from the back and engage as many men as possible to go and create goal-scoring opportunities.

NorthEast created a lot of chances but hardly had shots on target, until the Highlanders scored a winner via Jithin.

He even had his finger tips to the shot that served as an assist to the goal and there was not much he could have done to stop that goal.

Rahul Bheke – 6/10

NorthEast United vs Mohun Bagan Player Ratings: Gurmeet Singh, Nikhil Barla shine as Pramveer disappoints
Rahul Bheke played a key role in the defense for Mohun Bagan.

Bheke was brilliant tonight in the defence. His defensive pairing with Alberto was as strong as a wall tonight.

NorthEast players could hardly find gaps and openings to exploit as Mohun Bagan were superb defensively. However, in the last few moments, the Highlanders created too many chances.

Mehtab Singh – 6.5/10

NorthEast United vs Mohun Bagan Player Ratings: Gurmeet Singh, Nikhil Barla shine as Pramveer disappoints
Mehtab looked well for the Mariners.

Mehtab did a decent job in the first half to keep a goal scoring threat like Ajaraie quiet by marking his offside runs well.

He made a crucial intervention by tackling Jithin MS in the last quarter to ensure he gets nothing from a dangerous delivery.

Samir Zeljkovic – 6/10

Zeljkovic had a decent outing tonight in the middle of the park.

The Bosnian, who scored the goal for the Mariners in the last game in IFA Shield Finals was subbed off to make way for Anirudh Thapa in the later stages of this game.

Lallianzuala Chhangte – 5.5/10

The former Mumbai City FC winger had that raw pace to make those accelerated runs upfront from the right wing.

However, his distribution in the final third and decisions were a bit questionable at times. Overall, he created too many runs, but it had not much effect.

Sahal Abdul Samad – 7/10

Sahal had been a tough pill to swallow for the Highlanders. From those dribbles to creating chances and winning fouls in the centre of the park, Sahal was brilliant.

Macarton got a booking after committing a foul on Sahal in the early quarters.

Lee Erwin – 7/10

The former Leeds United striker took a brilliant left-footed volley on the first few minutes of the game that almost broke the deadlock in the game, but was denied by centimetres.

He came very close to scoring on so many occasions and was later subbed off to make way for Miguel.

Alberto Rodriguez – 6.5/10

NorthEast United vs Mohun Bagan Player Ratings: Gurmeet Singh, Nikhil Barla shine as Pramveer disappoints
Alberto led the Mohun Bagan defense against NorthEast.

Alberto was defensively solid with Bheke tonight. It is never easy defending against a side like NorthEast who are ruthless in scoring as many goals.

But Rodriguez made crucial blocks and interceptions to deny the Highlanders any goal tonight until Jithin scored a late winner.

Tekcham Abhishek – 7.5/10

Tekcham looked a bit sluggish in the flank while marking Ajaraie, who had beaten him too many times in the game tonight.

But he did well to mark the NorthEast wingers well and keep them away from the scoring opportunities. In fact, as the game progressed, he was one of the best players for the Mariners, who was even seen contributing in the attack.

Apuia – 7/10

Apuia was a consistent menace for the Highlanders tonight in the midfield. He was in the centre of everything that was happening in the middle of the park.

He kept his nerves and was seen dictating the pace and tempo of the game.

Dejan Drazic – 6.5/10

The Serbian winger made too many threatening runs from the left flank and even came closer to scoring on a few occasions.

He was later subbed off to make way for Suhail Bhat in the last quarter.

Substitutes

Manvir Singh – 5/10

Manvir was brought on in the first few minutes of the second half.

He didn’t impress much after coming on so early. Overall, Manvir could have done better tonight.

Liston Colaco – 6/10

The Goan winger showed instant impact after coming into the pitch. Though most of his shots missed the target, he was seen testing Gurmeet tonight and kept NorthEast’s defence busy tonight against the Mariners.

Suhail Bhat – 5.5/10

Bhat was introduced in the last 15 minutes. There was not much he did tonight except colliding with Gurmeet in the stoppage time after Bagan conceded a goal.

Anirudh Thapa – 5.5/10

Thapa was brought in place of Drazic to bring stability to the midfield, but it was unfortunately NorthEast, who controlled the majority of the game and later on went on to score a late winner.

Miguel Figueira – 5/10

There was not much attacking intent from the Mariners after Lee Erwin was subbed off. The Brazilian forward looked helpless as the Mariners continued to dominate the game and create forward moving passes.
