The Mariners lead the ISL 2026-27 points table.

The thirteenth edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) has completed almost 20 days of action, with four game weeks of football delivering plenty of drama both on and off the pitch.

There were just five games this week, compared to the usual schedule of six. The opening game saw NorthEast United FC and Bengaluru FC play out an entertaining 1-1 draw. The second fixture was the Southern Derby at the Marina Arena, which also ended in a draw despite the end-to-end, attractive football on display from both sides.

Later that day, Mohun Bagan came back from being a goal down to score twice in the same half and register a 2-1 win over the previously unbeaten Punjab FC.

The fourth game of the week produced absolute drama at the Mumbai Football Arena, where Mumbai City FC surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose 2-3, handing SC Delhi their first win of the 2026-27 ISL season.

In the final game of the week, FC Goa and Inter Kashi contested a closely fought encounter, with the Gaurs securing a 1-2 win through goals from Chiki and Franchu. East Bengal, Churchill Brothers SC and Odisha FC were not in action this game week.

At the end of Matchweek 4 of the 2026-27 ISL season, Mohun Bagan SG lead the standings with nine points, with NorthEast United FC, Bengaluru FC and Punjab FC closely behind on eight and seven points respectively.

East Bengal have played just two games and won both and could move to the top of the ISL standings if they win their remaining games in hand.

Four teams are still searching for their first win, with former ISL champions Mumbai City FC and Chennaiyin FC finding themselves in the bottom three.

Let’s take a look at the eleven players who stood out this week and made it into our Team of the Week for 2026-27 ISL Matchweek 4.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

GK: Amrinder Singh

Amrinder Singh produced a Man of the Match performance against Chennaiyin FC.

Amrinder Singh, who was benched at Odisha FC towards the end of the 2025-26 ISL season due to poor performances, is enjoying an inspiring redemption arc at Kerala Blasters this season.

Against Chennaiyin, he made four crucial saves from inside the box, including a goal-line save to deny Emmanuel from a set-piece and another to stop Irfan’s chip attempt in a one-on-one situation.

He was crucial to Kerala Blasters securing a clean sheet, earning him a second consecutive Man of the Match award in as many games.

LB: Muhammed Saheef

Saheef had a good performance against the Blasters.

Saheef, who had been shaky for Chennaiyin FC in their opening three games in 2026-27 ISL, with a few individual errors along the way, produced his best performance in Chennaiyin colours against his former side, Kerala Blasters FC.

He did well to minimize the threat posed by Sreekuttan down the right flank.

Saheef won six duels, won most of his tackles, made four clearances and recorded two interceptions and two recoveries. He used his aerial ability and physical prowess effectively against the Blasters’ wingers.

CB: Naocha Singh

Naocha had a solid outing for Kerala Blasters in the last game.

Naocha Singh, a left-back who has been playing in what is effectively a left-center-back role in Westwood’s in-possession structure and as a left-back out of possession, put in a strong defensive display against the Marina Machans, earning a second consecutive spot in our Team of the Week.

He was not dribbled past, won all his tackles, claimed five of his six ground duels and made two crucial blocks around the edge of the box.

With further interceptions and clearances, Naocha successfully kept Ramon and Irfan from finding the back of the net.

CB: Alberto Rodriguez

Alberto Rodriguez led Mohun Bagan’s backline against Punjab FC.

Although Mohun Bagan’s defense has been leaky and has failed to keep a clean sheet in three of the four games they have played this season, Alberto Rodriguez stood tall at the back against Punjab FC, particularly against an in-form striker like Messi Bouli.

He made 13 successful defensive actions, including eight clearances, three blocks and two recoveries, ensuring that the Mariners kept things tight at the back. Alberto also won all his tackles and five duels, playing a key role in Mohun Bagan’s third consecutive win and second consecutive clean sheet in 2026-27 ISL.

RB: Ricky Meetei

ISL 2026-27: Lee Erwin, Amrinder Singh lead charge in Team of the Week for Matchweek 4
Ricky Meetei delivered a strong performance against NorthEast United.

Ricky Meetei has established himself as Bengaluru FC’s first choice right-back in the ISL, keeping a veteran like Nikhil Poojary on the bench. His performance against NorthEast United FC was yet another example of his recent emergence.

Up against players like Ajaraie and Ethyan, he was never dribbled past and made 10 recoveries, three interceptions and two clearances. He completed seven of his eight long balls and recorded 92% passing accuracy in the opposition half, while also creating a few key chances.

CM: Samir Zeljkovic

ISL 2026-27: Lee Erwin, Amrinder Singh lead charge in Team of the Week for Matchweek 4
Zeljkovic had a good outing against Punjab FC.

Samir Zeljkovic, Mohun Bagan’s number eight, enjoyed a complete outing in the 2026-27 ISL Gameweek 4, offering glimpses of the performances he produced against his former side Punjab FC last season.

Zeljkovic had two shots on target and created three key chances while completing a dribble in attack.

Defensively, he won all his tackles, made 14 recoveries, yes, 14, and also won 10 ground duels and an aerial duel against the likes of Planas and Ricky.

CM: Zothanpuia

ISL 2026-27: Lee Erwin, Amrinder Singh lead charge in Team of the Week for Matchweek 4
Puipuia scored Mumbai City’s second goal against SC Delhi.

Zothanpuia, also known as Puipuia, started in an advanced midfield role for Mumbai City FC in the absence of several first-team stars. He came close to scoring within the opening three minutes, forcing Nora Fernandes into an early save.

Just before the first-half drinks break, Zothanpuia doubled Mumbai City’s lead with a calm and composed finish after receiving Noufal’s cross and putting it past Nora Fernandes. Defensively, he made five recoveries, one clearance and won four duels.

LW: Noufal

ISL 2026-27: Lee Erwin, Amrinder Singh lead charge in Team of the Week for Matchweek 4
Noufal had a good outing against SC Delhi.

Another Mumbai City player who had an excellent outing, despite the 2-3 collapse in the end, was Noufal.

Starting on the left wing, he consistently threatened SC Delhi down that flank. He made the most of Gogou’s mistake to set up Ajsal for the opening goal. He then made a brilliant run down the left before playing a low cross across the face of the goal to set up Puipuia for the second.

Noufal created five chances, two of which were big chances, and made six progressive carries down the left flank, giving both Gogou and Ashuthosh Mehta a tough time.

Had Ajsal been more selfless and played the ball to an unmarked Noufal during a quick transition in the second half, the Mumbai City winger could have scored a third goal for the Islanders.

CAM: Franchu

ISL 2026-27: Lee Erwin, Amrinder Singh lead charge in Team of the Week for Matchweek 4
Franchu delivered a fantastic game against Inter Kashi.

Franchu, who made a great impact during his short stint with Kerala Blasters in the 2025-26 ISL season, scored his first goal for the Gaurs as he gave Gouramangi’s side the lead in the first half with a brilliantly composed finish from around the edge of the box.

Apart from the goal, he combined brilliantly with Isak, Chiki and Nemil, creating five chances and making eight successful progressive carries in the opposition half.

He also recorded four recoveries, contributing to FC Goa’s press as they looked to win the ball higher up the pitch.

Other mentions: Drazic, Planas and Talal, all of whom had a great outing for their respective teams.

RW: Jithin MS

ISL 2026-27: Lee Erwin, Amrinder Singh lead charge in Team of the Week for Matchweek 4
Jithin MS scored for NorthEast United, as Bengaluru FC conceded from a counter-attack in the 16th minute of the game.

Starting as the right winger for NorthEast United FC, Jithin MS produced a moment of brilliance in the first half against Bengaluru FC.

He made a brilliant run during a quick transition and finished the move beautifully, leaving four defenders and the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.

Apart from the goal, he made a couple of runs down the right flank to consistently trouble Shivaldo. He also combined well with Ethyan on that side, with the latter testing the goalkeeper with a shot that lacked power.

ST: Lee Erwin

ISL 2026-27: Lee Erwin, Amrinder Singh lead charge in Team of the Week for Matchweek 4
Lee Erwin was heavily involved for Mohun Bagan against Punjab FC.

Lee Erwin, Mohun Bagan SG’s striker, had a productive outing in front of goal, scoring once and registering an assist to get involved in both goals during their 2-1 win over Punjab FC.

For the first goal, he received Thapa’s pass inside the box and fired a low left-footed shot across the face of goal from a tight angle, giving Ricky, Nikhil and Arshdeep no chance. He was fortunate to register an assist when Drazic scored a golazo from Erwin’s throw-in.

On any other day, Erwin could have scored two more goals and completed a hattrick, but Arshdeep produced several brilliant saves to deny the Scottish striker.
