ISL 2026-27: Updated points table, most goals, and most assists after NorthEast United FC vs Mohun Bagan Super Giant

Jithin strikes late to seal a dramatic win for the Highlanders.

What a thrilling encounter in Guwahati for the 2026-27 Indian Super League (ISL) season, as NorthEast United FC shocked Mohun Bagan SG with a late winner and snapped all three points in front of their home fans.

It is the Highlanders’ only third win over Bagan in 14 meetings till date (in the ISL) and there couldn’t have been a better way to begin their Indian Super League 2026-27 campaign. The first half was a tale of missed and unconverted chances for both teams, especially for Mohun Bagan who came very close to breaking the deadlock.

Gurmeet Singh was kept busy by the Mariners, and the keeper made no mistakes in keeping things tight at the back.

Mohun Bagan were denied a goal twice as the ball hit the woodwork. During the course of the game, Mohun Bagan had taken 25 shots in total with 6 shots on target.

The Highlanders did not register a single shot on target until their attack came to life and Jithin MS scored a 92nd minute winner to wrap up a solitary 1-0 win for the home side.
