The Tuskers are still looking for their first away win.
Mikael Stahre’s Kerala Blasters are set to battle Mohammedan SC for the first time in the Indian Super League (ISL) in an away fixture on Sunday.
The fixture promises to be an exciting contest as the Tuskers are looking for their first away win of the season, while the Black Panthers are hungry for the taste of their first home victory. Kerala Blasters’ head coach Mikael Stahre is optimistic about his side’s chances in the game.
Mikael Stahre on Mohammedan SC
Mikael Stahre on Kerala Blaster’s progress in the league so far, “I think we are on the right track. Despite two away draws in our last trips, we feel confident. We have been practicing well during the international break and we are looking forward to the game in Kolkata.”
“Honestly, I believe we deserved at least four, maybe six points in the previous away games. We created a lot of chances and were solid defensively. Of course, it hurts when we’re not winning, but we’re progressing. We’ve earned points and are growing stronger. I see significant quality improvement every day, and I think the fans notice it as well,” quipped Mikael Stahre.
Mikael Stahre when asked about his side’s chances against Mohammedan’s, responded, “We’re heading to Kolkata to win, and that’s crystal clear, just like in every other match. We know it won’t be an easy game in Kolkata. Our focus will be on playing smart, using our strengths, and exposing their weaknesses.”

The manager also shared his thoughts on facing Mohammedan SC at their home ground. “The team is used to play under pressure, as we have the best atmosphere in the league. Atmosphere means pressure, so we face it everywhere, whether at home or away. We have been mentally strong so far, which is necessary, and I believe we are making progress,” stated Mikael Stahre.
Kerala Blasters have not kept a clean sheet in the league so far. The Swedish tactician, addressing his team’s issue of conceding goals, stated, “We have only played four matches this season and I wouldn’t say we’re struggling defensively.
“Of course, we need to focus on details, defend better, and attack better, but we certainly are not a struggling side. There’s room for improvement in our defence but it’s certainly not a big concern.”
Mikael Stahre, on whether there will be any changes in the squad for the game against Mohammedan SC, “It’s about practicing and preparing the team. We’ll address the team two hours before the game to see if any changes need to be made. We will have a strong XI lined up on Sunday.”
