ISL 2024-25: Updated Points Table, most goals, and most assists after match 92, NorthEast United FC vs Punjab FC
It was a dramatic contest with red cards in it.
NorthEast United FC and Punjab FC put together an entertaining contest in ISL in Guwahati and shared spoils in the process. The Highlanders will be disappointed for not taking their chances and adding three points to their tally while Punjab will be proud of the performance that they’ve put in.
The wait for a win at home continues for Juan Pedro Benali and his men as NorthEast United drop two more points from a winning position taking their tally to 14 points dropped this season.
After creating a few and fair chances, the hosts took the lead courtesy of a goal from Alaeddine Ajaraie who scored his 15th goal of the season. Punjab FC came out all guns blazing in the second with a clear intention to bounce back in the game but were kept at bay until the 82nd minute.
Then Khaiminthang Lhungdim came charging from the right back position and smashed the ball into the back of the net to bring his side back on level terms. Punjab FC’s head coach Panagiotis Dilmperis and Lhungdim received a red card each before the referee blew the full-time whistle.
A brief look at the points table
Mohun Bagan continue to lead the standings with 32 points in 14 games. Bengaluru FC remain in the second position with 27 points. FC Goa continue to hold the third spot and have 25 points. Jamshedpur FC have not moved from the fourth spot with 24 points in 13 games. NorthEast United FC have been promoted to the fifth spot with 22 points in 15 games. Mumbai City FC complete the top six with 23 points in 14 games.
Odisha FC remain intact in the seventh spot with 21 points. Punjab FC hold on to the eighth position with 18 points in 14 games. Kerala Blasters are still placed ninth with 17 points. Chennaiyin FC have retained the tenth position with 16 points. East Bengal sit in the eleventh spot with 13 points to their name while Hyderabad FC and Mohammedan SC share the twelfth and the thirteenth positions respectively.
