TG Purushothaman emphasizes the focus on maintaining team spirit ahead of the East Bengal clash

TG Purushothaman’s Kerala Blasters are shining with confidence and resilience after a string of positive results in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 campaign. As they prepare for their upcoming clash against East Bengal FC away from home, interim coach TG Purushothaman shares his thoughts about his side’s chances in the league.

Purushothaman, speaking about the Blasters’ current form, stated, “What we planned when Thomas, our coaching staff, and I took charge was to approach each and every match positively. We are getting the results, but what’s more important is maintaining this team spirit, for which we are giving our best. All of our players know their jobs and responsibilities. The next matches are crucial for us, and we are trying our best to explore the weaknesses of our opponents.”

Strategy for East Bengal FC

The head coach shares his insights on their next game against East Bengal. “Every game is different, and we have to take them very seriously. We can’t focus too much on their last three defeats. We are a very good team, and we must respect our opponents. They are playing at home, and it will be difficult for us. If we maintain our team spirit and implement our plans on the pitch, hopefully, we can secure a victory. Let’s see what happens, but surely, we will fight for a win,” said TG Purushothaman.

Playoff Possibilities

The Tuskers are edging closer to their top six aspirations, with a series of strong results boosting their progress in recent games. TG Purushothaman, the gaffer, opening up about his side’s chances to secure a playoff spot, said “When we took charge, we never thought of the top six. We were taking it game by game, focusing on the next opponent and tracking their performance closely. Hopefully, if we perform well and achieve our goals, we can accomplish our main objective. We have some plans in place, but let’s see how things unfold.”

Integrating Dusan Lagator

Kerala Blasters’ latest acquisition, Dusan Lagator has made his debut with a late cameo in their last outing. TG Purushothaman, on his plans with the Montenegrin midfielder, said, “Dusan needs to adapt to the team as soon as possible. That’s the key. The team will have a model to follow with a player like him. He is a very good player with a lot of qualities. Let’s see how he copes with the team. We are preparing each session for the matches to get him ready. Hopefully, it will go well.”
