Only one club has managed two hat-tricks since the tournament’s inception.
The Indian Super League (ISL) has entertained football fans in India thoroughly since it began in 2014. Over the years, several highly skillful attackers have graced the competition which has taken its place at the top of the football pyramid in the country.
Scoring a goal is a tough task in the ISL due to its competitive nature but scoring a hat-trick takes an unfathomable level of skill and determination.
A recent collection of three goals scored by Borja Herrera for FC Goa in the 2024-25 campaign had the fans applauding and admiring him. Historically, the Gaurs have had brilliant goalscorers who have recorded a grand number of hattricks too.
In the context of hat-tricks and the clubs that have scored them, here is a look at the top five outfits with the most hat-tricks scored in the history of the ISL.
ATK FC – 3
ATK FC was a massive force in the Indian Super League back in the day. The outfit dominated the league and won it three times before the tie-up with Mohun Bagan.
Iain Hume scored the first-ever hat-trick for the outfit in November 2015. He scored the second hat-trick a few days later in 2015 and the third hat-trick was scored by Roy Krishna in 2020.
NorthEast United FC – 3
NorthEast United FC has also scored three hat-tricks since the Indian Super League began. The team may have yet to lift the trophy but it has always played an attractive brand of football and produced several talented young Indian players.
Seiminlen Doungel scored the club’s first-ever hattrick in 2018 and became only the third domestic player to score it in the ISL after Sunil Chhetri and Thongkhosiem Haokip.
Chennaiyin FC – 4
Chennaiyin FC has scored the third-most number of hat-tricks in the Indian Super League. The Marina Machans have won the competition twice and aim to bring back the glory days, finding a solution to the current struggles.
Stiven Mendoza scored two of the four hattricks scored by the outfit in the ISL. The other two were scored by Dudu Omagbemi and Abdenasser El Khayati.
