ISL 2024-25: Rahul Bheke, Korou Singh highlight Matchweek 24 Team of the Week

Many Indian players impressed in the ISL match week 24.

We are inching closer to the business end of the 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) season. The first game of the week witnessed Bengaluru FC secure a playoff berth with a 1-0 win over Chennaiyin FC before East Bengal pulled off their third consecutive win and kept their playoff aspirations alive. FC Goa strengthened their position at the second spot with a narrow win over Punjab FC.

Odisha FC’s playoff chances took a major hit as they were held to a 0-0 draw by an impressive Mohammedan SC side. Mumbai City FC came back from 0-2 to rescue a crucial point against Mohun Bagan before Kerala Blasters played out a 1-1 draw against Jamshedpur FC. NorthEast United FC were the only team who were not in action this week.

On that note, let us take a look at Khel Now’s team of the week for game week 24.

Formation: 4-3-3

GK – Prabhsukhan Gill (East Bengal FC)

Prabhsukhan Gill put in a motivating shift under the bar for East Bengal and emerged as the best goalkeeper this week in ISL. He kept an important clean sheet and denied Hyderabad FC from getting past him. Singh made four saves as East Bengal wrapped up a 2-0 win over the Nizams at home, including three saves from inside the box and one diving save.

RB – Udanta Singh (FC Goa)

Udanta Singh was seen in a new role and he excelled in it with perfection this week in ISL. Singh stood strong at the right back position and made five clearances and one interception. He also created two chances before setting up Carl Mchugh for the winning goal. Udanta also recorded two ball recvieries while winning four duels. He completed nearly 80% of his passes while executing two key passes.

CB – Chinglensana Singh (Bengaluru FC)

Sana had a great outing this week. He completed 48 passes, the most by any player in that game. He also created one chance and maintained a passing accuracy of 86%. The 28-year-old made nine clearances, four ball recoveries and two blocks at he back. He wasn’t dribbled past even once and executed seven passes into the final third.

CB – Rahul Bheke (Bengaluru FC)

Rahul Bheke became Bengaluru FC’s hero against Chennaiyin FC this week in ISL. The Indian international scored the lone goal of the match which resulted in being the point of difference between the two sides. Bheke made six clearances, including three headed clearances alongwith three ball recoveries and two tackles. He also won all of his ground duels and completed 82% of his passes.

LB – Nathan Rodrigues (Mumbai City FC)

Nathan Rodrigues came off the bench and saved Mumbai City FC from facing a defeat. Rodrigues came in as the messiah for the Islanders and scored an all-important equaliser in the 89th minute to rescue his side from a defeat against Mohun Bagan. It was one his most impactful performances in the league till date. Moreover, he also managed to maintain a passing accuracy of 100%.

CM – Saúl Crespo (East Bengal FC)

The Spaniard shouldered the creative duties with perfection for the Kolkata Giants. He executed three key passes while maintaining a passing accuracy of close to 80%. He also set up Raphael Messi Bouli for a goal and registered an assist in the process. Crespo has three touches in the opposition box and played ten passes into the final third. He made five ball recories alongwith two tackles, one clearance and block each.

CM – Lalrinfela Khiangte (Mohammedan SC)

Lalrinfela Khiangte stood out as the most promising player for Mohammedan SC this week in ISL. He completed three dribbles and created four chances, the most by any player. He also won the most number of duels (9) and executed 11 passes into the final third. The 24-year-old completed 92% of his passes and made five ball recoveries, one clearance, tackle and interception each.

CM – Carl Mchugh (FC Goa)

Carl McHugh was the shining light for FC Goa this week in ISL. After multiple failed attempts, the Irish man finally found the back of the net and opened his account for the season. He took a left footed shot from outside the box and found the back of the net with ease. Mchugh 59 passes while maintaining an accuracy of 81%. He made fifteen passes into the final third while making six ball recoveries, three interceptions and one clearance. 

RW – Korou Singh (Kerala Blasters FC)

Korou Singh scored a wonder goal for the Kerala Blasters this week in ISL. He unleashed a powerful strike with his right foot and found the back of the net. Korou’s been impressive for the Blasters and this goal was the result of all the hardwork that he has put in till now. He created two chances while complying 2/2 dribbles. Singh made four ball recoveries, three clearances, two tackles and also won six duels.

ST – Raphael Messi Bouli (East Bengal FC)

Raphael Messi Bouli scored his first ISL goal since his return to the league after a long interval. Messi was a living force for the Red and Golds and brought in the much needed precision in attack. He scored the second goal for his side and ensured a victory against Hyderabad FC this week in ISL. The 32-year-old had seven touches in the opposition box and even ended up hitting the woodwork once.

LW – Alberto Noguera (Bengaluru FC)

Alberto Noguera continued to shine for Bengaluru FC. The Spaniard has been one of the most influential figures for the Blues this season and has put in numerous impactful shifts. Noguera set up Rahul Bheke for the winning goal and racked up an assist. He created two chances and played six passes into the final third. The 35-year-old also made seven ball recoveries and won ten duels.
