Some Indian players caught the eye with their excellent performances.

The Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 wrapped up its final game week ahead of the October international break. It was a week full of flair, drama, goals, and a couple of red cards. Four back-to-back matches ended in a stalemate before Jamshedpur FC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant secured comfortable wins on Saturday.

Chennaiyin FC shared spoils with Hyderabad FC before Bengaluru FC and Mumbai City FC staged one of the most entertaining games of the season. Odisha FC fought back from behind and secured a crucial point against Kerala Blasters before NorthEast United FC dropped points twice from a winning position and produced a six-goal thriller against FC Goa.

On that note, let us look at Khel Now’s team of the week for Matchweek 4.

Formation: 4-4-2

GK – Albino Gomes (Jamshedpur FC)

Albino Gomes put together a phenomenal performance between the sticks for Jamshedpur FC in their 2-0 triumph over East Bengal. He was instrumental in keeping a clean sheet and did not let the Red and Gold Brigade get the better of him. Gomes’ crucial reflexes saw him make a vital penalty save in the second half, and replace Gurpreet Singh Sandhu in Khel Now’s Team of the Week for the first time this season.

RB – Ashutosh Mehta (Jamshedpur FC)

The right-back has marked his return to football with exceptional performances at the back for the Red Miners. Despite being out of action for so long, Ashutosh Mehta has maintained his physique, temperament, and ‘never-say-die’ attitude. He won a majority of his ground duels while maintaining good passing accuracy.

CB – Rahul Bheke (Bengaluru FC)

Bheke played an influential role in his side’s 0-0 draw against Mumbai City FC. The Indian international marked his return to the Mumbai Football Arena with a solid performance at the back. He made three interceptions, two clearances, and blocks each while completing 92% of his passes.

CB – Pratik Chaudhuri (Jamshedpur FC)

Pratik Chaudhuri played like a rock in the heart of the Red Miners’ backline. He stood firm and defended with his heart on his sleeve. The 35-year-old defender made five clearances, and four blocks and also put in a crucial tackle. Moreover, he won the ball cleanly in crucial positions and did not concede a single foul throughout the game.

LB – Subhasish Bose (Mohun Bagan Super Giant)

Subhasish Bose had a great game in Mohun Bagan’s 3-0 triumph over Mohammedan SC. He scored a goal and provided an assist up front while being equally impactful at the back. Bose made five tackles, winning all of his aerial duels and 80% of his ground duels. It was undoubtedly one of his best performances in the ISL so far.

RM – Imran Khan (Jamshedpur FC)

Imran Khan was one of Jamshedpur FC’s top players in their third ISL win of the season. The attacking midfielder pulled the strings in the middle of the park and created jaw-dropping chances for his teammates. He tore East Bengal’s backline apart with his key passes and was a constant threat.

The Scottish midfielder produced his best performance in the colors of Mohun Bagan. He took his own sweet time but has finally settled well into Jose Molina’s structure. Stewart was the Mariners’ main man in their win over the Black and White Brigade. He scored a goal and also provided two assists in the process.

CM – Nestor Albiach (NorthEast United FC)

Nestor Albiach got his second start of the ISL season and made it count. He looked dangerous from the get-go and did not show any mercy to the FC Goa defenders. The Spaniard opened the scoring in style by skipping past multiple defenders before putting the ball into the net. He then scored the second goal for his side and wrapped up his best performance so far.

LM – Noah Sadaoui (Kerala Blasters FC)

Noah Sadaoui has continued his superb run of form in the ISL 2024-25. The Moroccan forward scored a goal and assisted the second in his side’s 2-2 draw against Odisha FC. Noah worked his socks off on either flank and continuously troubled the opposition defenders. He is now the league’s second-joint-highest goal contributor with three goals and an assist.

ST – Vikram Partap Singh (Mumbai City FC)

Vikram gave a good account of himself in his side’s draw against the table toppers. The Indian international showed promising signs even though the game ended goalless. His positioning and passes were up to the mark. The 22-year-old won nine out of his 12 ground duels and also made five tackles in the process.

ST – Armando Sadiku (FC Goa)

The Albanian striker looked lively and raring to go every time the ball was at his feet. Sadiku is now the joint-highest goalscorer in the ISL with four strikes to his name.
