Several Indian players performed well in this week’s ISL showdown.

The Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25, this Saturday, completed its fourth week. A total of 24 matches have been played in the league so far. Matchweek four started with Hyderabad FC facing Chennaiyin FC. In an intense game, both sides failed to find the net and shared one point each. It was the first point for the Nawabs this season, after two defeats.

The powerhouses of Indian football, Mumbai City FC and Bengaluru FC, also ended their face-off in a draw after clever performances from both goalkeepers, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and Phurba Lachenpa.

On the other hand, NorthEast United FC and Kerala Blasters FC both failed to earn three points after taking early leads. Odisha FC came back from 0-2 against the Blasters, and FC Goa scored in the final minutes to earn a point each against the Highlanders.

Saturday, 5th October, was different from the rest of the week, as Jamshedpur FC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant edged past Emami East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting Club by 2-0 and 3-0, respectively.

Here is a look back at the past week’s results and the top five Indian performers from game week four of the ISL 2024-25.

5. Albino Gomes

Albino, the new custodian of Jamshedpur FC, is proving his worth. Albino defied the constant attacks from the Red & Gold Brigade (East Bengal) and led his team to victory. His highlight of the match was saving Saúl Crespo’s penalty in the bottom left corner. It’s also Albino’s first clean sheet in the ISL.

In some instances, Albino was lucky that the ball hit the crossbar, but it can be said that luck favours the brave.

This year, Albino Gomes joined Jamshedpur FC to replace Rehenesh TP, who left the club this year. The 30-year-old goalkeeper previously played for Sreenidi Deccan FC, who finished second in the league.

On the defensive side, he made five interceptions and three tackles. The defender also helped the attack by providing Nikolaos Karelis with a perfect cross, but Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was able to save his header.

 3. Subhasish Bose

Subhasish Bose‘s performance against Mohammedan SC came as a savior for Jose Molina. The Spanish coach has been criticized for his tactics on the pitch.

The Mohun Bagan Super Giant captain played one of the best matches of his career in the first Kolkata derby of the season against Mohammedan Sporting Club. The skipper scored the second goal with a header. In the third goal of the match, Subhasish found Greg Stewart from midfield.

Defensively, he was solid, dominating Lalremsanga Fanai. He completed 33 passes with 82 percent accuracy, had five clearances to his name, and won the maximum number of duels in the game.

2. Boris Singh
