Khalid Jamil is the only coach to complete a league double over Manolo Marquez.

The FC Goa vs Jamshedpur FC fixture has always been a mouth-watering clash with both sides engaged in some heated games and neck-to-neck battles over the last couple of years. In the initial days of Jamshedpur FC, FC Goa turned out to be their worst nightmare.

Not only did Sergio Loberaโ€˜s then FC Goa side thrash Jamshedpur FCโ€™s hopes of making it to the ISL Semi-Finals in their maiden season itself, but also inflicted deep wounds that would take years, if not decades, to heal. In the 2017-18 Super Cup, Jamshedpur FC were handed a Quarter Final defeat from the Gaurs in the Super Cup with a massive scoreline of 5-1.

History repeated itself in the 2019-20 season as a 4-3 thriller saw the Gaurs advancing to the semi-finals. The tides, however, in this fixture have changed rapidly. Jamshedpur FC unleash their beast version when they take on Goa.

This ISL season, Jamshedpur FC won the league double over FC Goa. This remarkable feat made Khalid Jamil the first and only coach in the history of ISL to complete a league double over Manolo Marquez.

The same JRD Tata Sports Complex that was stained with the blood of FC Goa, demolishing the semi-final hopes of Jamshedpur FC, hosted Manolo Marquez for an interesting clash. It was a must-win game for both sides to inch closer to the table toppers, Mohun Bagan.

The match began with Lazar Cirkovic breaking the deadlock in the 34th minute, followed by a strike from Javier Siverio, which doubled the lead. Despite Goa pulling one back just seconds before the half-time, Siverioโ€™s second goal of the night was enough to seal a victory for the Red Miners.

The Fatorda Stadium in Goa was brimming with excitement to host the Gaurs for the first time in the new Indian Super League season. FC Goa were coming after winning the Bandokar Trophy, whereas Jamshedpur FC were decimated by the Indian Army in the Durand Cup.

FC Goa entered this game as the favourites and also drew first blood, courtesy of a goal from Armando Sadiku. The Red Miners equalised in fashion following Siverio converting from the spot kick. When the match appeared to end in a stalemate, Jordan Murray appeared from nowhere to hand over the first win for the Red Miners after a stoppage-time winner.

Jamshedpur FC 2-3 FC Goa (9 April 2024)

Jamshedpur FC bowed out of the ISL Playoff race after a defeat to Chennaiyin FC, and the match was nothing less than a formality for the Red Miners. However, the Gaurs had a golden chance to redeem their minuscule chances of winning the ISL Shield.

The match kicked off with Rei Tachikawa scoring the first goal in the 17th minute. FC Goa responded valiantly after goals from Noah Sadaoui and Carlos Martinez. After Lenโ€™s equaliser in the 73rd minute, Borja Herrera hit the last nail in the coffin after his 95th-minute strike saw the Gaurs take all three points.

FC Goa 1-0 Jamshedpur FC (27 November 2024)

Jamshedpur FC roped in Scott Cooper as the new gaffer after parting ways with Aidy Boothroyd. One of the most infamous managers in Jamshedpurโ€™s history, after getting sacked mid-season, Cooperโ€™s Jamshedpur showed no intent in this match.

Goa emerged as the better side, and an 82nd-minute winner from Victor Rodriguez was enough to make the local Goa fans go wild and secure a solid three points for Manolo Marquez.

FC Goa 3-5 Jamshedpur FC (10 April 2023)

The EMS Stadium in Kozhikode hosted the Super Cup fixture when these two sides last met in the group stage fixture. Jamshedpur FC were coming after a lacklustre ISL season, and also losing the golden opportunity to compete in the AFC Asian Champions League, following their defeat to Mumbai City FC.

This match saw a brace from Rafael Crivellaro and goals from Pronay Halder, Pratik Chaudhari and Harry Sawyer. Goa did try to bounce back after going 4-1 down, but the efforts went in vain, and Jamshedpur finally avenged their previous Super Cup defeats to Goa.
