Khalid Jamil urges players to approach Kalinga Super Cup 2025 quarterfinal game with utmost seriousness

Khalid Jamil’s Jamshedpur FC lock horns against the Highlanders in the quarter-final clash.
Khalid Jamil’s Jamshedpur FC have booked their quarter-final berth after getting the better of the Nizams. Ahead of Jamshedpur FC’s clash against NorthEast United FC, coach Khalid Jamil, along with player Nikhil Barla, briefed the media about their team’s preparations.
Jamshedpur FC thrashed Hyderabad FC 2-0, whereas their opponents, North East United FC, decimated Mohammedan SC by netting six goals in their last game. This match is set to be nothing less than a thrilling encounter as a semi-final berth awaits either of these two sides.
Does Khalid have a special strategy?

Coach Khalid Jamil said that knockout games require a different mindset. In a tournament as competitive as the Super Cup, where every game is a knockout game, there is nothing other than a win that can help you advance into the next round.
Khalid Jamil said, “Yes, we got the job done in the last game, but now we face a strong opponent. We have to be fully prepared and give our best on the pitch. Every match in a knockout tournament is different, and this one demands even more focus and effort.”
Can Khalid get past his former side?
North East United FC have fared pretty well this time. They began the footballing calendar by clinching their first ever silverware in history after being crowned the Champions of the Durand Cup. Juan Pedro Benali would be keen to culminate the calendar year by adding another feather to his cap.
To neutralise the Highlander’s threat, Khalid said, “NorthEast United are a good side, and it’s going to be a very difficult game. But every game is a new opportunity. We must stay positive, stay focused, and try to get the result we want.”
What has been the Red Miners’ biggest motivation?
After an exemplary and praiseworthy campaign in the ISL, Jamshedpur FC would be keen to salvage the pride and lift the Kalinga Super Cup and earn a rare opportunity to represent India on the continental stage. With his side three wins away from this historic feat, the Red Miners would be raring to go all guns blazing.
Khalid added, “Our motivation is very clear – there’s no second chance in a knockout game. We have to put everything on the pitch. Every player has a responsibility, and we must approach the game with full seriousness and energy.”
