How could FC Goa line up vs Al-Zawraa in AFC Champions League 2?

The Gaurs will be looking to win their third Super Cup title on Sunday.

FC Goa will face East Bengal in the Super Cup 2025 final. Under their respective Spanish coaches, both sides are known to play a possession-based brand of football.

Success in the Super Cup isn’t new for either side, as they have both won silverware in the competition before.

The Gaurs are the most successful team in the cup competition and are also the defending champions. In this article, we will take a look at FC Goa‘s record in the Super Cup over the years.

Super Cup 2017-18 – Semi-final

The Gaurs started their 2018 Super Cup campaign with a 3-1 win against ATK in the round of 16. This was followed by a 5-1 win over Jamshedpur FC before they were knocked out by East Bengal in the semifinal, courtesy of Dudu’s solitary goal in the match.

Super Cup 2018-19 – Champions

After another strong showing in the ISL, Sergio Lobera’s FC Goa were hungry to win silverware after falling to Bengaluru FC in the ISL final. The Gaurs started their campaign with a 3-0 win against Indian Arrows in the round of 16.

Positive results continued as crucial wins against Jamshedpur FC and Chennai City FC propelled the Gaurs into the final. Lobera’s side beat their ISL rivals 2-1 when it mattered the most as Ferran Corominas and Brandon Fernandes helped them win the trophy.

Super Cup 2022-23 – Group Stage

FC Goa were handed a tough draw in the Super Cup competition, which had a new format in its comeback season. Grouped with Jamshedpur FC, ATK Mohun Bagan, and Gokulam Kerala, the Gaurs failed to progress from the group stage, having picked up six points from three games.

A 3-5 loss to Jamshedpur FC cost FC Goa dearly as the Men of Steel won all three games and topped the group.

Super Cup 2023-24 – Group Stage

FC Goa were pitted in Group D alongside Odisha FC, Bengaluru FC, and Inter Kashi in the 2024 edition of the tournament. While they picked up wins against BFC and Inter Kashi, the former Super Cup winners lost 3-2 to Odisha FC and finished with 6 points.

Odisha FC topped the group with nine points, reached the knockout stage, and lost to East Bengal in the final.

Super Cup 2024-25 – Champions

In 2025, the Super Cup reverted to its original format, with the group stage being abolished. FC Goa started their campaign in the round of 16, beating Gokulam Kerala 3-0. They then eliminated Punjab FC in the quarterfinals with a 2-1 scoreline.

Up against Mohun Bagan SG in the semifinal, the Gaurs put in a decent performance, picking up a 3-1 win to make it to their second Super Cup final.

Manolo Marquez’s side squared up against Khalid Jamil’s JFC in the decider, outplaying the Men of Steel as Borja Herrera’s brace and Dejan Drazic’s 70th-minute strike helped them win 3-0 and win their second Super Cup title.

How many Super Cup titles have FC Goa won?

So far, FC Goa have won two Super Cup titles.
