East Bengal have qualified for their third consecutive AIFF Super Cup final.

The semi-finals of the Super Cup 2025 proved to be one-sided affairs, with East Bengal FC and FC Goa storming through to confirm their place in the final. For the Red and Gold Brigade, this will be their third consecutive AIFF Super Cup final appearance.

FC Goa will look to clinch the title again to secure a place in the continental competition. The final is set to unfold at the JLN Stadium in Fatorda, Goa, on December 7, with kick-off at 7:30 PM IST.

The East Bengal FC fans couldn’t have asked for a more comprehensive performance from the torchbearers. It was a spicy affair against Punjab, with tempers flaring.

Oscar Bruzon, the East Bengal manager, was shown two yellow cards and sent off for an animated celebration and altercation with the referee.

The Palestinian Mohammed Rashid opened the scoring with a piledriver in the 12th minute. This early lead helped East Bengal emerge as the dominant force. However, a blunder from Mahesh in the box led to a penalty in favour of Punjab, which Ramirez converted in the 33rd minute.

At the stroke of half-time, East Bengal regained the lead with a Kevin Sibille header. This lead was extended in the second half by skipper Saul Crespo to guide his team to the final.

FC Goa are on course to defend their title

The Gaurs have had the toughest time playing against Mumbai City FC, but the AIFF Super Cup semi-final saw the Gaurs write a victorious script. The toast of Goa, Brison Fernandes, found himself on the scoresheet again, his stunning belter of a goal setting things in motion for the Gaurs.

Mumbai had no time to settle after the first blow as David Timor doubled the delight with a long-range effort. The buoyed home side did not allow any space for the Islanders to reduce the lead, closing the first half with a 2-0 score line.

The second half was far from boring as a spirited Mumbai forced FC Goa into errors. In the 50th minute, Hrithik Tiwari came out of his position to stave off an attack from the Islanders, but ended up making a rash challenge on Jorge Pereyra Diaz. The referee had no option but to allow a penalty for Mumbai, which Lallianzuala Chhangte squandered as he fired it over the bar.

Mumbai did not let their shoulders down after Chhangte’s miss and kept pushing. They got their reward as another local boy, the former FC Goa captain, Brandon Fernandes, wriggled through defenders to provide his team with a lifeline. However, it was not enough to avoid the calamity.

FC Goa negotiated the pressure in the dying minutes and secured their place in the final, which will be played at their home turf with the Gaur Army rallying behind them.
