Super Cup 2025-26 Final: FC Goa vs East Bengal Preview, team news, lineups & prediction

FC Goa will aim for back-to-back Super Cup titles against East Bengal in the final.
Defending champions FC Goa will face East Bengal in the AIFF Super Cup 2025 final at the Fatorda Stadium, Goa, on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
With the possibility of representing Indian football in Asia awaiting the winner of the championship, both sides will look to pour their everything into getting a clutch win to claim the trophy.
The Stakes
FC Goa

For FC Goa, their participation in the 2025-26 AFC Champions League Two may not have been special at all, as they have lost all five matches so far. However, the Gaurs realise that consistency is crucial for them to participate in Asian competitions to succeed at the continental level.
That’s why Manolo Marquez will lead his team and motivate them to put up a great performance and defeat East Bengal in the final. The Gaurs will need to maintain their defensive shape, be sharp in the final third and make the most of their chances to beat this East Bengal side.
Successfully defending their Super Cup championship will boost the momentum of the FC Goa players and put them among the top players in Indian football. However, losing in the final will be particularly gutting, especially after their disappointments in Asia.
East Bengal

This is an opportunity for East Bengal to regain the Super Cup title, which they last won in 2024. Oscar Bruzon’s side showcased a lot of grit and fighting spirit in their performances, especially after the shocking draw against Dempo SC to open the competition.
They will be looking to maintain their momentum after the impressive 3-1 win over Punjab FC in the Super Cup semifinal.
Even though Bruzon is suspended from the game due to a red card he received in the last game. He will want to uplift his players by urging them to be defensively strong and be smart in utilising their chances perfectly.
A win for East Bengal will be validation that Oscar Bruzon’s system is working and re-establish them as one of India’s top clubs, but losing in the final after doing so well will be a major setback.
Team News
Manolo Marquez is still sweating on the fitness of Sandesh Jhingan and Mohammed Yasir, both of whom missed the semi-final against Mumbai City. Iker Guarrotxena is suspended for the game.
Oscar Bruzon is himself suspended from being on the touchline for this game. He should, however, have striker Hamid Ahadad back in the squad after he missed the game against Punjab.

Key players to watch out for
Brison Fernandes (FC Goa)

Brison Fernandes played a prominent role in helping FC Goa get their place in the AIFF Super Cup final, with an inspired display against Mumbai City. He’s proven himself capable of thriving in the right-wing role, scoring an excellent goal against the Islanders to help his side take a step closer to the title.
However, Brison can really establish himself as one of the best in Indian football with a clinical performance in the final.
He will need to be sharp and proactive with his movement in the opposition half, driving his side into the key areas and confusing their defenders. While Brison will be tasked with being decisive with his final third passes, he will also be urged to sneak into the goal-scoring positions and put away chances efficiently to enhance the Gaurs’ chances of winning.
Miguel Ferreira (East Bengal)
Miguel Ferreira has quickly established himself as the engine of the East Bengal midfield since joining the club.
The Brazilian midfielder has managed to bring that unique spark to the East Bengal midfield line, with his driving runs and clever passing providing the creative boost they sorely lacked last season.
Ferreira put in a marvellous performance against Punjab FC, bagging two assists, and will be determined to maintain his good form against the Gaurs.
He will, however, need to be unpredictable with his movement inside the opposition half and work hard with possession retentions to outwit the FC Goa players. Ferreira will be urged to deliver clever passes and set-piece delivery to help East Bengal catch the Gaurs’ backline by surprise, as he looks to inspire his side to a big win with another influential display.
