The Blue Tigers have struggled in front of goal throughout the year.
The Indian Football Team have faced a challenging year in 2024. Across ten matches, including both competitive and friendly fixtures, they have not yet secured a single victory.
This winless run includes their fixtures in AFC Asian Cup and FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers, where they struggled against strong opponents, including the likes of Australia, Uzbekistan, and Qatar.
Moreover, the Blue Tigers also competed in the Intercontinental Cup and Tri-Nation series friendlies, but a win remained out of reach for them.
In the quest for their first victory of the year, the Blue Tigers made a change in their managerial position.
The former head coach Igor Stimac was terminated from his contract following subpar performances in the AFC Asian Cup and World Cup Qualifiers. Manolo Marquez took charge of the team afterward, but he has not secured a victory during his tenure yet.
The Blue Tigers’ goal tally for the year has been quite low, with only three goals scored throughout the entire season. The first goal of the year came in a 2-1 loss against Afghanistan in a World Cup qualifier, ending their goal drought.
The second goal of the year came similarly, as India lost 2-1 to Qatar in another World Cup qualifier, with Sunil Chhetri converting a penalty to give the team an early lead.
The third goal for the Blue Tigers this year came in a 1-1 draw against Vietnam in a friendly fixture during the Tri-Nation series. India is set to play Malaysia in a friendly during the international break in November, aiming for their first win of the year with a strong goal tally.
Here is a list of all the fixture results and goals scored by the Blue Tigers in 2024.
