Top 10 players dropped from Indian football team ahead of November FIFA Window

Sunil Chhetri has been dropped from the Indian football team’s probable list.
Ahead of the November FIFA window, head coach Khalid Jamil has made some major changes. Ten big names have been dropped from the new list of probables for the match against Bangladesh.
The Blue Tigers are already out of contention for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 after their previous 2-1 defeat to Singapore. Despite being the highest-ranked team in the group, the Blue Tigers have bowed out of the race with two games to spare. They managed to clinch two draws and suffered two defeats against Hong Kong and Singapore.
The result of the match against Bangladesh will have no impact on India’s AFC qualification, and now it is a matter of pride for them as the Blue Tigers are looking to avoid a bottom-placed finish in the group.
Former Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil is known to never shy away from taking bold calls. After a dismal campaign in the October window, Khalid has dropped ten players from the list of probables and given chances to many new faces.
On that note, let’s take a look at the top 10 names who have been dropped from the Indian football team squad for the Bangladesh game.
10. Gurmeet Singh
Gurmeet Singh played a crucial role in helping the Highlanders win back-to-back Durand Cup trophies. He was included in the October window, but couldn’t get a single minute of game time and has been dropped ahead of the November window.
9. Amrinder Singh
The veteran Indian custodian, Amrinder Singh, has also been dropped after not being on the bench in the last two games. The Odisha FC captain made way for young keepers like Hrithik Tiwari, who recently impressed a lot with FC Goa in the Super Cup and ACL 2.
8. Brandon Fernandes

Brandon Fernandes‘s exclusion was a big surprise. He is currently one of India’s most creative midfielders and was brought on for the last 5 minutes against Singapore. Brandon has also failed to start for Mumbai City FC in both the recent Super Cup matches.
7. Deepak Tangri
Deepak Tangri was brought in as a substitute in the away clash against Singapore. Despite conceding an early yellow, minutes after he was subbed in, he did really well to neutralise Singapore’s attack from the center with a 10-man side after Jhinghan was sent off way too early.
6. Danish Farooq
Danish Farooq was on the bench for both games against Singapore and did not play a single minute. He started one game for Kerala in the Super Cup and was benched in the most recent clash against Punjab FC.
His exclusion alongside Liston’s absence from the probables has left a big void in the left flank as Khalid hopes to give more game time to young lads.
5. Farukh Choudhary

Farukh Choudhary had a decent performance in the October window. Despite getting enough time and even starting in the away clash against Singapore, he failed to impress much. In the last home game, he was subbed on in the 67th minute, but couldn’t create enough opportunities to find the equaliser.
4. Sahal Abdul Samad
Sahal Abdul Samad started both matches against Singapore from the bench. He got around the last twenty minutes in both games, but couldn’t make the most of the opportunities. He was part of the Mariners side that won the IFA Shield recently, and he has been dropped from the senior team.
3. Udanta Singh

Udanta Singh‘s exclusion from the probables was a big shock. He performed well with his pace and acceleration after coming off the bench in both matches. He also impressed against Al Nassr, and even at 30, he recorded one of the highest speeds and sprints.
2. Liston Colaco

Liston Colaco had too many hopes and expectations to perform well in the October window. But he failed massively and underperformed. From failing to create chances to even failing to convert easy chances, Liston’s performance was very disappointing, and his exclusion from the squad was expected.
1. Sunil Chhetri

Legendary Indian captain Sunil Chhetri returned from retirement to help India secure a place in the AFC Asian Cup 2027, but failed to score even once in four matches.
Khalid took a bold call to omit Chhetri and try some new faces in the upcoming international window, just like the CAFA Nations Cup 2025.
