The Blue Tigers’s next game will be played at home.
The Indian football team played out an eventful 1-1 draw against Vietnam on Saturday (12 October) in what was their first away match under Manolo Marquez. Farukh Choudhary scored the Blue Tigers’ first international goal since June. It was a memorable return for him to the international stage after three years.
India are currently only scheduled to play one more international match in 2024. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) have been able to finalize an international friendly to take place at home against Malaysia on 19 November, which falls under the November international break calendar.
The venue for this match has not been confirmed yet, nor has the kick-off time. Although knowing the timings of most of the Indian Super League (ISL) matches, the match is likely to kick off at 7 PM or 7:30 PM on that day – with everything regarding the venue and ticket launch to be confirmed soon.
With the final ISL match before the November break scheduled to take place on 10th November (between Odisha FC and Mohun Bagan), the Indian national team players are likely to all gather for the training camp one or two days after that.

Manolo Marquez actually might try to start his training camp a day or two before that clash between Odisha FC and Mohun Bagan, as FC Goa’s last game before the November break is on 6 November against Punjab FC. The gaffer might not be totally pleased to only get his players for less than two weeks. However, he will look to use this period to get the players better adapted to his philosophy and finally get their first win under him against Malaysia.
Indian football team’s record against Malaysia football team
The Malaysia football team are currently ranked at 132 in the FIFA World Rankings, six places below India. The Blue Tiger have faced off against Malaysia on 25 occasions in the past, winning seven of those matches. The last time India and Malaysia met each other in a competitive football match was in the 2023 Merdeka Tournament when the Blue Tigers suffered a 4-2 loss.
The last time India hosted Malaysia happened way back on 16 November 2011, when they picked up a thrilling 3-2 win. Fast forward just over 13 years since that date and Marquez will hope that history repeats itself and that the Blue Tigers can at least end 2024 with a big win. This would help ensure that they don’t go the entire year without winning a competitive international match.
