Quite a few big names went from one Indian Super League (ISL) club to another in 2024. While most have taken time to settle, quite a few have hit the ground running immediately.
While it was certainly not easy to make this list, Here are the top ten transfers within Indian football in 2024:
Honourable Mentions: Madih Talal, Jeakson Singh, Rahul Bheke, Pereyra Diaz, and Alberto Nouguera are other big transfers that happened this summer that just missed out on this list.
10. Lalrinliana Hnamte

The midfielder made the move from Mohun Bagan SG to Chennaiyin FC over the summer. Hnamte made his mark from the first matchweek and has impressed his coach and the fans alike. Owing to his improvement, the 21-year-old also got to make his Indian national football team debut against Vietnam in October.
9. Anwar Ali
Having moved from Mohun Bagan to East Bengal, Anwar Ali already had the Indian football fraternity watching his move. Having not performed as expected initially, the 24-year-old has become crucial for the Red and Gold Brigade in recent games as they look to rise to the Indian Super League table.
8. Javi Hernandez
Javi Hernandez made the move from Bengaluru FC to Jamshedpur FC over the summer and has instantly become a fan favorite. The Spaniard is a fixture in JFC’s starting XI and has scored 3 goals so far in 10 ISL appearances.
7. Wilmar Jordan Gil
Wilmar Jordan Gil joined Chennaiyin FC from Punjab FC over the summer. So far, The Colombian has scored 6 goals for the Marina Machans and is the top-scorer for them this season. While his form has dipped a bit, Wilmar Jordan still has an outside chance in the race for the Golden Boot.
6. Nikhil Poojary
The 29-year-old left Hyderabad FC in January 2024, making a move to Bengaluru FC. With the Blues, the Indian international has so far made 20 appearances in the ISL and has played a major part in BFC’s rise in the points table.
5. Hugo Boumous
Another star who moved from Mohun Bagan over the summer, Hugo Boumous has become quite important for Odisha FC. The 27-year-old has scored 3 goals and provided 4 assists in 11 ISL games so far this season. With his team vying for a playoff spot, the Frenchman’s contributions will be vital in the coming months.
4. Aakash Sangwan
The left-back joined FC Goa from Chennaiyin FC over the summer and has replaced Jay Gupta in the starting XI. The 29-year-old has 2 ISL assists to his name this season. Owing to his good form, Aakash was also given his Indian national team debut in October against Vietnam.
3. Noah Sadaoui

FC Goa’s fan favorite Noah Sadaoui made the move to the Kerala Blasters over the summer. The Moroccan has lived up to the hype and has become a difference-maker at KBFC. Noah has four goals and four assists in the ISL this season, however, his form has dipped in recent games.
2. Apuia
Lalengmawia Ralte better known as Apuia to the Indian football fans, moved to Mohun Bagan from Mumbai City over the summer. The central midfielder has become a vital cog in Jose Molina’s side and the Indian international will certainly play a big role in Mohun Bagan’s ISL Shield aspirations.
1. Armando Sadiku

Armando Sadiku moved from Mohun Bagan to FC Goa in the summer, possibly seeking more game time. With the Gaurs, the 33-year-old has been on song, scoring 8 goals and providing 2 assists in 11 ISL games. Vying for the Golden Boot, Sadiku is one of the signings of 2024 in Indian football.
