Odisha FC commenced their first training session with the senior squad ahead of the new season.
Odisha FC embarked on their new journey with the latest additions to the squad in their first training session open to all, ahead of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25. Although the Kalinga Warriors are participating in the ongoing Durand Cup, they have chosen to send their junior side to garner experience.
On Wednesday, the club shared a quick peek at the senior squad’s first open training session ahead of the season, featuring new signings Hugo Boumous, and Rohit Kumar. It also featured loanees Amey Ranawade and Raynier Fernandes who opted for a second season at the club.
Boumous cut a more enthusiastic figure, as the midfielder was elated to join former teammates, Mourtada Fall, Amrinder Singh, Raynier, and Ranawade alongside former manager Sergio Lobera at the club. After getting minimal game time at Mohun Bagan Super Giant for ISL 2023-24, the French-Moroccan wizard will hope to play a pivotal part in Lobera’s title charge.
Singh and Fall were also seen training with the side and took part in welcoming Boumous alongside the other players in a customary chain of friendly pats.
The Juggernauts were also hard at work perfecting their passing in one-touch drills. Odisha FC concluded their open training session with a fan meet-and-greet as they signed multiple jerseys and posed with them for group photos.
The Kalinga Warriors finished fourth in ISL 2023-24 and then made it to the semi-finals in the playoffs as they were eliminated by finalists Mohun Bagan Super Giants.
Sergio Lobera’s men also went all the way to their second successive Super Cup final but narrowly lost in a 2-3 loss as East Bengal won their first silverware in 15 years.
The Spanish manager will be itching to get his hands on a trophy with Odisha FC this season and has already commenced preparations. Lobera also has unfinished business in the AFC Cup as they bowed out after a 4-0 humbling by eventual winners Central Coast Mariners in the second leg of the inter-zone play-off semi-finals.
