The 26-year-old has started this season in style, flourishing under Spaniard Sergio Lobera.
Jackichand Singh has been a phenomenal performer for both club and country, ever since his career took off while he was at Royal Wahingdoh. The winger from Manipur has appeared in 16 fixtures for India, scoring two goals. This season, he's embarked on a new journey in the Indian Super League with FC Goa, hoping to make an impact.
Jackichand rose to prominence while playing for Wahingdoh in the I-League. He was a key player for the side that finished third in the I-League in 2017-18. The former Kerala Blasters winger was also named as the I-League Player of the Season in 2014-15. After that stellar campaign, Jacki played for the likes of Pune City, Mumbai City and the Blasters before joining Sergio Lobera’s side. "I have always felt that my playing style would complement FC Goa’s playing style and that is the type of football I like to play," he expressed, voicing his delight to play in Goa.
FC Goa have started the season in fine form and the winger thinks that is a sign of better things to come. "If we are able to maintain this rhythm and keep working hard throughout this season, I am sure we will win the title this."
Jackichand has flourished under Sergio Lobera’s system. "From the coach, I have learned that it’s okay to take as many touches as I want, but it’s important to not lose the ball. This has been good and has opened a novel way of playing for me. I am happy that the coach is also delighted with my performance and that he has given me a chance in the starting XI," he said. "Hopefully, I can keep the coach happy by working hard and making sure I do the things he likes on the field,” he added.

He has helped me a lot with the timing and direction of my runs. He is also very intelligent."
"Our squad has very talented youngsters. (Mohammad) Nawaz, Liston (Colaco), Princeton (Rebello) and (Saviour) Gama have all been excellent. They have bright futures ahead," he said.

The winger explained, "The atmosphere of the national team and the club are very important. Even the training styles of both the teams are different."
"Playing for the national team is a huge privilege because only few people are representing the nation and therefore the pressure is on us. It all depends on us and how we are able to take the game forward and win matches. It fills me with huge pride and gives me a sense of responsibility to play for the country," he concluded.
