The former India international was delighted with the performance of his players.
FC Goa managed to put behind them all the mire that was surrounding the club in recent weeks and pull out a performance against a competent Mumbai City FC side. The Gaurs ran riot at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa, with goals from Ferran Corominas, Hugo Boumous and Jackichand Singh condemning the Mumbaikars to a 5-2 defeat. The interim head coach of FC Goa Clifford Miranda was full of praise for his side after the victory. “What a performance. What a game. I felt it was a very good contest with two very good teams. Two teams that were wanting to win, not settling for anything less than the victory.” [KH_ADWORDS type="4" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] “It was a game that we had chances, they had chances. But, in my opinion, I think when the second half started, in the first 15 minutes, we were a little on the back foot. Otherwise, for most of the time in the match we were under control. We were good on the ball, we created chances and we scored.” Clifford Miranda also lauded the Goa keeper Mohammed Nawaz for his crucial save in the first half from Bidyananda Singh’s shot from distance to keep the score at 3-1. “Football is also about saving and I believe Nawaz, at the end of the first half, made a very, very good save that gave us the momentum for the second half.” [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="RELATED NEWS | ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS] The interim manager stressed that he would take results over performances as the season wears on, especially against opposition of such pedigree. “It was another very good performance when we wanted it most. It is this part of the season, where if you really talk about performance or result, I will take result. But, here we had a fantastic performance and a very good result that takes us closer to our objective.” With the victory, FC Goa cemented their place at the top of the ISL table, going clear of ATK in second place.Latest News
