Jessel Carneiro, Modou Sougou and Amine Chermiti all had interesting things to say regarding Thursday night's game.
Thursdya night saw the hosts failing to replicate the opening day performance in Kerala Blasters Vs Mumbai City game. Eelco Schattorie's men had numerous chances but they were wasteful in front of the goal.
Whereas Mumbai City's Tunisian marksman Amine Chermiti was an opportunist in front goal and it was from his solitary strike that Jorge Costa men kickstarted their Indian Super League 2019/20 campaign with a win.

One of the standout players for the Blasters have been young left-back Jessel Carneiro. The 22-year old former Dempo SC defender was disappointed with the loss as he also felt that the team missed someone like Sandesh Jhingan. He said, " I think we made some mistakes in attack as well as in defence."
"Did we miss Sandesh Jhingan? Yeah, you can say. He is a very good player, he plays for the national team. We miss him, we miss him a lot," Carneiro concluded.
Modou Sougou
Mumbai City FC's talisman from last season Modou Sougou did not start in the opening match but soon he came in replacing Paulo Machado. Sougou operated as a #10 complimenting Chermiti upfront.
The former Senegal international was evidently very happy with the result and feels that the Islanders deserved three points.
"It was a very good match for us. We wanted three points and we got it. I think we played very well. I think we had more chances than Kerala as they had only one chance. I think we deserve the three points."
"I think this is a wonderful stadium. I think it is a very positive atmosphere to play here. I think for the development of Indian football and ISL all the ground officials should see what they are doing here and do the same," Sougou opined.
Amine Chermiti
Mumbai City FC's star signing Amine Chermiti has repaid the faith shown by Costa as the Tunisian striker was delighted with the result. He also sheds more light on his competition with Sougou.
"It is good for the team to start with a win and it is good for me as well, motivation to continue like this," Chermiti said.
"I think there is no competition, we are a family. He had a minor injury so I started ahead of him. He later came on and helped us. One day I will score and one day it will be him. The most important will be the team," he added.

"Kerala (Blasters) were not easy to break down, they won their first game. It was an advantage for them to play ahead of us. Today both teams had opportunities to score. But we took our chance."
"It is important for me to score, I feel normal just like a striker. Before the game, we decided that we are not going to Kochi for a holiday but to fight and win three points," concluded Chermiti stating Mumbai City's ambitions before the game.
