The Highlanders registered their first win in this Indian Super League season.
Indian Super League new entrants Odisha FC suffered their second loss in as many games, as the home team NorthEast United FC registered their first win this season. Redeem Tlang and star signing Asamoah Gyan were on the scoresheet for the hosts. While Xisco Hernandez scored for the visitors. NorthEast United FC head coach Robert Jarni spoke to the media after an intense match.
Jarni, who was really happy with the result, started off by saying, "It was a very tensed game. We were leading 1-0 and then they scored a goal and we got a bit nervous. After Xisco (Hernandez) scored an equalizer for Odisha, we had to respond and I’m really happy with my players."
He also went on to add, "The team did not play as good as the previous game against Bengaluru FC, but we won today and it was the most important thing."

The NorthEast United tactician also had a word of praise for Milan Singh. He elaborated his case by saying, “Jose (Leudo) and Milan have similar characteristics in how they play. They are good defensive midfielders. He is playing well since last season. He’s now getting experience and its good for him and Indian football.”
On Crowd Support
"The support was really great," asserted the Croatian. He further added, "The support of the crowd will be important for us going into the season. The fans are very passionate here. As you saw today, when Odisha equalized the crowd really went behind the team and motivated us (to score a winner).”
On His Best Starting XI
NorthEast United made three changes in the starting lineup today against Odisha. Robert Jarni was questioned about whether or not he has found his ideal starting lineup and answered, "The best XI is the one which the coach wants to start every game and the players need to learn what I expect from them. I am happy with my players, with what they show me in training and every match is a different game. There are no 11 players in the team. There is a chance for everyone who can make it into the starting lineup."
