The Scotsman praised the qualities of the club's new signings.

After consecutive three defeats, Jamshedpur FC need to turn their heads and get a win against high-flying Hyderabad FC in their next encounter in the Indian Super League. The Men of Steel have made it very clear that they want to reach the playoffs this season and currently despite making a strong start to the season, they have faltered after the New Year's break and hence find themselves in trouble. Reflecting on the last three matches and the entire scenario of the season so far, their head coach Owen Coyle shared his thoughts at the pre-match press conference.

He said," Nobody likes to lose games. I can only speak about this season and obviously the improvements that we have made. Jamshedpur FC finished with five points from the last 10 games they played in the last season. We've already shown that we can compete with the very best and be at the top end of the league and that is something we have to do again."

"We had a horrible week, but from our performances, we could have easily taken points from some of them. Moreover, we created loads of chances and the margins are very fine and we have to be on the right side of those margins. Jamshedpur FC are in a far better position than what we found with Chennaiyin was last year, so we are more than capable of making up the deficit," he added.

Opinion on new signings

The Men of Steel have been one of the busier ISL teams in the January transfer window. They have signed two players in Seiminlen Doungel on loan from FC Goa and Farukh Choudhury is back, with Jackichand Singh going the other way to join Mumbai City FC. Speaking about the signings, Owen Coyle revealed how he wanted to add more pace to the attack and both Farukh and Len provide him with qualities that he needed.

He revealed, "It is very simple with Farukh and Len coming into the club, we have added more speed to our team. Jacki is a very good player and a good lad but what we did not have was speed at the top end of the pitch. Farukh, for example, is a young player and also an India international and I spoke to Igor (Stimac), the national team coach and he also thinks very highly of him. When I saw games of Jamshedpur FC, he was certainly an asset for the team and he will be again."

Availability of Farukh and Len against Hyderabad FC

When questioned whether the new signings will feature against Hyderabad FC or not, Owen Coyle emphasised on how he made sure that he had players whom he wanted in the transfer window.

"Absolutely! There is a reason why we brought these two players in the team. I obviously inherited the team with some players left over from last season and they certainly had not been my signings, but these two are. They have got plenty of pace that we need, we need to be a fast and dynamic team and they will definitely help. We look to build a team which continues to progress the football club," he answered.

Thoughts on Hyderabad FC

Lastly, speaking about the matchday opponents, the Scotsman lauded Hyderabad FC's young Indian players and believes that their development will help the Indian national team. He also added how the Men of Steel will look to negate the threat that the Nizams possess.

"I think their young players have come in and have learnt from the disappointment from last season. Their full-backs, (Asish) Rai and (Akash) Mishra have been very good. Sana Singh, we know, is from the academy back home and has done very well. Liston (Colaco) also has come in and is a breath of fresh air and has plenty of pace. There is no doubt that those boys have done well and it is also great for the development of the national team. For us, we have to make sure we stop that threat and impose ourselves on the game so we are very respectful of them, but we will have to make sure that they don't bring their top game against us," he concluded.
