Muhammed Uvais set to join Jamshedpur FC for Rs 35 lakh transfer fee

Gokulam Kerala left-back Muhammed Uvais is set to sign for Jamshedpur FC, Khel Now can confirm. The 23-year-old didn't miss a single game last season and lifted the I-League 2021-22 title with the Malabarians. He also played all three games in GKFC's debut AFC Cup campaign.
A source close to the development informed Khel Now, “Jamshedpur FC and Gokulam Kerala have agreed a fee of ₹35 lakh for the transfer of Muhammed Uvais. The player will sign a three-year contract with the Men of Steel.”
The young left-back, who played 21 matches across three competitions for Gokulam Kerala last season, had a contract till 2024 with the Malabarians. However, he is now set to move to the Indian Super League after Jamshedpur FC reached an agreement with GKFC for his transfer.

About the Player
Muhammed Uvais Moyikkal played an instrumental role in Gokulam Kerala’s I-League triumph. He played 18 matches in the recently concluded I-League and scored a goal. Notably, he also provided three assists. This year Gokulam Kerala secured their maiden AFC Cup qualification after grabbing the league last season. Uvais appeared in all the three group stage matches.
The 23-year-old has shown promise through his performance in the I-League and will want to carry on the same in the top-tier league. In his career, Uvais has played for clubs like FC Kerala and FC Bengaluru United as well. This will be the left-back’s debut Indian Super League campaign.
Apart from playing as a full-back, Uvais can also play as a centre-back. As a left-footed centre-back, he can be a great option for Jamshedpur.

Jamshedpur FC’s preparations for ISL 2022/23
Jamshedpur FC are currently looking forward to sign their new head coach. After the conclusion of the Indian Super League, Owen Coyle, under whose tutelage the Men of Steel won the League Winners’ Shield, parted ways with the club to join Queen’s Park FC in Scotland.
Their midfield maestro, Golden Ball winner Greg Stewart will don the Mumbai City shirt in the upcoming ISL. Midfielder Mobashir Rahman has also joined East Bengal. Even defender Narender Gahlot has left the club to join Odisha FC. Talented winger Ritwik Das is also rumoured to be under the radar of East Bengal. However, no official confirmation has been received on this.
Versatile footballer Jitendra Singh however, has extended his stay at Jamshedpur FC. The way things are progressing, it seems the new head coach will have to assemble the squad, if not from scratch, then at least from a minimal situation.
