East Bengal have officially announced the signing of Mobashir Rahman. The official statement read, “East Bengal have signed 24-year-old midfielder Mobashir Rahman on a pre-contract for a three-year deal.”

After the likes of Mohamad Rakip and Ivan Gonzalez, Mobashir Rahman is the third official signing announced by the club.

About the player

Mobashir Rahman is a graduate of the TATA Football Academy. He has been playing in the Indian Super League since the 2018/19 season. Rahman was an integral component of Jamshedpur FC. He had made 53 appearances for the club in the previous seasons. In the process, he scored a goal and provided three assists.

In the recently concluded edition of the ISL, the midfielder enjoyed a total of 535 minutes in 13 games. Two of his assists came in the same season (2021/22).

Mobashir Rahman was also a part of Jamshedpur FC’s reserve team in the 2017/18 season. He is labelled as a versatile midfielder who can play as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder and even on the right flank at times. As of now, it can be said, he is one of the finest domestic recruits by the Red & Golds.

East Bengal’s preparations for the 2022/23 season

East Bengal are hopeful of announcing their new investor in the month of May. A few days back they parted ways with Shree Cement Limited. The club has already completed signing the pre-contracts with Aditya Patra, Mahitosh Roy, Dip Saha, Nabi Hussain Khan and Suryash Jaiswal.

A few days back they announced the arrival of right-back Mohammad Rakip and centre-back Ivan Gonzalez. They are also in advanced talks with Spanish winger Aridai Cabrera.

The club hasn’t yet enjoyed a good stint since their inception to the Indian Super League. The club is planning to build a stronger side than last season.
