East Bengal in advanced talks to sign Spaniard Aridai Cabrera
The winger is set to be the club's second foreign signing ahead of the 2022/23 ISL season.
East Bengal are all set to rope in Aridai Cabrera as their second foreign signing ahead of the 2022/23 season. The club are in advanced talks with the winger. A pre-contract has been sent to him by East Bengal. The club are currently waiting for the signature of Cabrera. A source close to the development informed Khel Now, “Talks with Aridai Cabrera are in the advanced stages. The club has sent him the pre-contract.”
If Cabrera signs for East Bengal, the upfront will be bolstered immensely. The club will see a few more signings in the upcoming days.
About the player
Aridai Cabrera joined Indian Super League side Odisha FC in 2021. The 33-year-old appeared 17 times for the Juggernauts and scored on five occasions. He also had an assist to his name. In his career, the winger has played in clubs like RCD Mallorca and their B team, Girona, Betis B, CE L’Hospitalet, CE Sabadell, Huracan, Cultural Leonesa and UD Las Palmas. Notably, he was a part of the B side of Valencia as well. He had two La Liga appearances for RCD Mallorca back in Spain.
Aridai Cabrera has played a total of 420 matches in his career, scored 86 goals and provided 13 assists. It can be rightly said that East Bengal targeted the perfect player who has the hunger to score as well as create chances for his teammates. Last year on 30th November, the winger scored a brace against the side for whom he is about to sign.
East Bengal’s preparations for ISL 2022/23
East Bengal have parted ways with their investors Shree Cement Limited and will be having new investors on board soon. They have signed the likes of Aditya Patra, Mahitosh Roy, Nabi Hussain Khan, Suryash Jaiswal and former academy graduate Dip Saha. Notable signings have already arrived in the form of Mohammad Rakip and Ivan Gonzalez. They have sent pre-contracts to many players around the country and are negotiating with many of them. They ended at the bottom of the table last season. But this time, they are aiming to build a stronger squad than last season.
