ISL 2023-24: FC Goa vs NorthEast United – Build-up
FC Goa will be eager to get back to winning once again when they host NorthEast United at the Fatorda Stadium, Goa on Wednesday, February 21. FC Goa’s undefeated streak was broken by Mohun Bagan in the previous game. Manolo Marquez’s side will be ready to give a very tough fight to the away team as the Gaurs will want to get back to the top of the ISL points table.
FC Goa were surely not expecting to get defeated at their home turf by Mohun Bagan, but it is an early wake-up call for the Gaurs as they want to challenge for ISL Shield. The Gaurs will look to get all three points against the side from Guwahati who are very poor when playing away from home. But, since Sandesh Jinghan is not in their backline anymore, they are facing defensive lapses which can be a problem in this upcoming fixture.
The Highlanders are suffering from inconsistent performance this season as their away record has been very poor. Last time in Kolkata they were hammered by Mohun Bagan 4-2. Losing the match against Goa can cause a lot of issues for the Guwahti-based outfit as they will face difficulties in qualifying for the top-six. Juan Pedro Benali will be hoping to get something from this match as they are facing a very tough competitor away from home.
