The player has previously turned out for Jamshedpur FC and Mumbai City in the ISL.

Scottish playmaker Greg Stewart has agreed a one-year deal with Mohun Bagan. The Scottish forward, who has spent two and half seasons in the Indian Super League (ISL) will be joining for the Kolkata-based club for the upcoming season.

Greg Stewart has played 50 games in the Indian top division, having signed for the Tata Steel-owned Jamshedpur FC in ISL 2021-22. Following his success that season, he then moved to Mumbai City FC.

He played one and a half seasons with the Islanders as one of the mainstays under Des Buckingham. However, his stint with Mumbai was cut short in January when he terminated his contract to move to Scotland and join Kilmarnock FC.

Unfortunately, his spell at Kilmarnock didn’t quite live up to expectations, as he failed to score in eight games. Despite this, Mohun Bagan have seen enough potential in the 32-year-old to offer him a one-year deal.

“Greg Stewart is a proven goalscorer in the ISL and we believe he can bring a lot of value to our team,” said a source close to the club who wished to remain anonymous.

Greg Stewart’s signing is a significant boost to Mohun Bagan’s attacking options and the club will be hoping he can replicate his ISL form. With his experience and goalscoring ability, he could prove to be a crucial signing for the Mariners.

Stewart is the third foreign signing for Mohun Bagan this season, following the arrivals of Tom Aldred and Alberto Rodriguez. The trio will be expected to play a key role in the team’s success next season.

Mohun Bagan are set to kick-start their preparations for the upcoming season on July 29th, which coincides with Mohun Bagan Day, as announced by the club.

The team are seeing a change of guard as Jose Molina has been named the man in-charge after Antonio Lopez Habas’ contract ran out in the summer. The club will be looking to build on their recent signings and make a strong push for the title next season.
