The midfielder is heading towards the end of his contract with Inter Milan.
Marcelo Brozovic is in high demand, as several clubs are lining up to sign him. The defensive midfielder currently plays for Inter Milan and will be out of contract in June 2022. There is no sign of the player signing a renewal and the exodus of players from the Serie A champions will likely continue next summer too. The Croatian was a major factor in Inter’s league win last season and he could leave in the near future.
The 28-year-old is currently valued at €40m, but could agree to join a club in the winter transfer window on a pre-contract agreement. His versatility makes Brozovic a suitable player for multiple major teams. Here are the five clubs that can sign the Croatian midfielder:
5. Juventus
Serie A giants Juventus are on the march to regain their lost crown. Their years of supremacy in Serie A were ended by Brozovic’s Inter Milan in 2020/21. Since then, the Old Lady has been going through a tough period. They would like to re-build a squad low on confidence and hired Massimiliano Allegri for that purpose.
Their midfield is in tatters at the moment. With all due respect to the current players, there is a lack of personality in the middle of the park. Juventus did sign Manuel Locatelli and his partnership with Weston McKennie is developing steadily. However, Allegri would relish the opportunity to have Marcelo Brozovic in the squad. He will bring Serie A experience, a winning mentality and sturdiness in the heart of the midfield.
4. Newcastle United
Newcastle United have become the richest club in the world after a successful takeover. A consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (valued at £300 billion) have become their new owners. The club will sign several high quality players in order to compete with the best teams in the Premier League.
The Magpies are on the search for a new manager as well as new players and the upcoming winter transfer window is going to be crucial in this regard. Marcelo Brozovic would score a lucrative contract at Newcastle and be the center of their build-up. Furthermore, playing in the Premier League is a promising opportunity in itself.
3.FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona are reeling from the after-effects of Lionel Messi’s departure. The club also relieved Ronald Koeman from the position of manager after a string of poor performances and results. Their squad is relatively young and needs an influx of energy and experience. Furthermore, a new manager who will come in would want reinforcements in key areas.
Reports have indicated that the La Liga giants are looking at club legend Xavi as the possible replacement. Additionally, the club will also look at possible arrivals to turn the tide. Sergio Busquets is the recognized defensive midfielder in the team, but he has lost the intensity due to age. Marcelo Brozovic would be the ideal signing and will slot in alongside Frenkie de Jong and Riqui Puig seamlessly.
2. Manchester United
Manchester United are one of the suitors for Marcelo Brozovic. The club is in desperate need for a defensive midfielder who will provide cover to the defence. Current options like Nemanja Matic, Fred and Scott McTominay aren’t able to fulfill the role. As a result, the defenders are exposed and the club is leaking a lot of goals this season.
Brozovic would be the perfect signing for MUFC, as he will provide much-needed stability in midfield. This will allow Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to employ two attacking midfielders in Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba. The Red Devils have the financial might to secure the signing on a pre-contract and will offer Premier League football to the Croatian.
1. Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur will likely make moves in the transfer market during the winter transfer window. They have made waves by appointing Antonio Conte as their manager, replacing Nuno Espirito Santo. The London-based club are showing ambition and will give Conte funds to sign players to his liking.
Marcelo Brozovic is said to be high on the list of possible arrivals. The player and manager have worked together at Inter Milan before, which will give Spurs the edge over other clubs in signing him. As for the Croatian, he will be an immediate upgrade over the current options in the midfield.
