A brace from captain Alfred Jaryan and a late strike from Lalrinfela were enough to seal three points for the I-League club.

Two-time Mizoram Premier League champions Aizawl FC enjoyed a deserved first MPL win of the season with a thrilling 3-1 victory over Mizoram Police FC. Meanwhile, Chhinga Veng FC  narrowly avoided defeat against an incisive Ramhlun North FC in a 2-1 one victory.

A brace from captain Alfred Jaryan and a late strike from Lalrinfela were enough to seal three points for the I-League club.

It took only nine minutes for Aizawl FC to take the lead when Govin Singh's delivery was met by Alfred who directed it in Mizoram Police FC's goal. Known for their attacking power, Mizoram Police FC forced good saves from Aizawl FC's custodian Gurpreet while Alfred and Lalkhawpuimawia called Police goalkeeper Tanpuia into action at the other end.

But MPFC's fragile backline was exposed again in the second half when Lalkhawpuimawia broke through to set up Alfred's second. Mizoram Police pulled one back seven minutes later through Lalramtharmawia but a victory was all but ensured for Aizawl FC when Lalrinfela struck their third on the 85th minute.

Chhinga Veng FC battled on to find an equaliser but they struggled to create clear openings until the 70th minute when they won a penalty. Lalromawia stepped up to equalise. But it had almost been for nothing as Ramhlun North FC themselves were awarded a subsequent penalty. Lalliansanga's resulting spot-kick was saved by the busy Zothanmawia.

Chhinga Veng FC then struck in stoppage time when Ramhlun North FC failed to properly clear the ball from a Lalnuntluanga shot, falling to F. Zosangliana who turned and smashed in a volley.
