Top six fastest hat-tricks in Premier League
These players took no time to score three goals for their respective clubs.
The Premier League is widely regarded as the toughest league competition in the world. This is due to the financial strength of the clubs and the quality of the domestic English players. Several world-class players have featured in the English top division over the years. They went on to score a lot of goals for their respective teams and also set many records in the process.
One of the many remarkable feats is scoring a hat-trick in football. To score three goals takes a huge effort. Considering the quality of the opposition across the board in the Premier League, it is even harder to execute. However, there are many exceptional goalscorers who scored hat-tricks in the league and some players did it at a lightning pace right from the kickoff.
It is interesting to observe which players took the least amount of time to score three goals right from the kick-off. On that note, here are the top six fastest hat-tricks in the Premier League.
6. Jermaine Pennant - 26 minutes
Jermaine Pennant was one of those English players who had tons of potential. During the 2002-03 season, the winger was playing for Arsenal and unleashed fury on Southampton in a 6-1 win. The Gunners shot into a 4-0 lead inside 22 minutes with a brace each from Robert Pires and Pennant.
Then, Jermaine Pennant scored his third at the 26th-minute mark. The score at the halfway mark read 5-1 in Arsenal’s favour. Eventually, the London-based club won the game 6-1 after Pires completed his hat-trick two minutes into the second half. Importantly, Pennant was making his debut and took 26 minutes to score the hat-trick.
5. Ian Marshall - 27 minutes
Back in 1997, Ian Marshall took only 27 minutes to score a hat-trick. During the contest between Leicester City and Derby County, the latter went into an early lead. However, that is when the veteran striker took matters into his own hands.
He turned the game around for the Foxes by scoring a quick-fire hat-trick inside 27 minutes. Marshall brought the game level, gave LCFC the lead and extended the lead all inside half an hour. Thanks to his exceptional contribution, LCFC went on to win the game by 4-2 by the full-time whistle.
4. Kevin De Bruyne - 24 minutes
The latest entry in this list is by Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian international is one of the best players in the Premier League and won the Players of the Season award at the end of the 2021-22 season. He took merely 24 minutes to score three goals, all from his weaker left foot against Wolves.
He wasn’t done there as the midfielder added a fourth in the second half. Manchester City took the three points with a dominating 5-1 win away at the Molineux. De Bruyne also became only the third central midfielder to score four goals in a Premier League game after Frank Lampard and Gini Wijnaldum.
3. Dwight Yorke - 22 minutes
Manchester United club legend Dwight Yorke was extremely quick on his feet. He was also a terrifying finisher of the ball and found the net for fun. In an iconic fixture against Arsenal at Old Trafford, the striker scored three goals inside 22 minutes. The rivalry between these two clubs always led to high-octane matches but hardly anyone saw the Red Devils demolishing the Gunners in such a way.
At the final whistle, MUFC was leading Arsenal by 6-1 and took away three points. Before the kickoff, United’s lead over Arsenal was 13 points in the league table and became 16 points after a humiliating defeat, courtesy of Yorke’s 22-minute hat-trick.
2. Sadio Mane - 16 minutes
Before Sadio Mane became a Liverpool player and went on to win multiple trophies, he made a huge impact while playing for Southampton. The striker took only 16 minutes from the kickoff to score a hat-trick against Aston Villa in 2015, breaking Yorke’s 14-year-long record.
Furthermore, Mane took only two minutes and 56 seconds to complete his hat-trick. That is a Premier League record in itself and stands even today. This insanely quick hat-trick helped Southampton record an impressive 6-1 win over Aston Villa.
1. Son Heung-min - 13 minutes
Son Heung-min silenced his critiques and opened his scoring in the 2022-23 season with a brilliant hat-trick against Leicester City on 17 September 2022. The star winger was benched by Antonio Conte due to his poor start to the 2022-23 season. But Son came off the bench to score a hattrick in just 13 minutes. The first two goals were long rangers, one from the left and one from the right foot. The 3rd goal was initially ruled out due to an offside, but the goal was ruled onside by VAR.
