NorthEast United FC started their Indian Super League campaign with a 1-0 home win against Kerala Blasters. But, when he met the press after the game Head Coach Nelo Vingada said there was still much work to be done. "As a coach I want more, our preparation was not enough for 90 minutes of competitive football. I am happy, but we have to play better if we intend to reach the playoffs," he explained. In the early part of the game the home side struggled to find a link between the midfield and the frontmen. On this the Professor commented, "The starting XI I choose was the best available for me, considering today’s match conditions. Some of our players are not match fit to play the whole 90 minutes." He further stated it’s just the beginning and judging any player from day one Is difficult. Although he admitted that the game was a dull affair he praised the beautiful and spectacular opening ceremony the organizers had produced. Accompanied by him Robin Gurung, NEUFC’s most ever present player since last two seasons said that as a coach Nelo Vingada has a completely different approach towards the game in comparison to previous coaches. Nelo is more composite in attack and defense while his predecessor wanted the team to attack right from the word go. That’s why according to him NEUFC conceded more goals in previous seasons due to defensive loopholes.Report by Himangshu Rajkhowa- Khel Now Correspondent from Guwahati.
