Time for a blockbuster DFL-Supercup 2026 match ahead of the Bundesliga 2026-27 season.
Jamal Musiala’s Bayern Munich will be eager to win a trophy in their first competitive fixture ahead of the new league season. What better than doing so in the backyard of Bundesliga arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund?
In this DFL-Supercup (Franz Beckenbauer Supercup) match, Vincent Kompany’s Bayern are up for a mean task. They had a pretty decent pre-season run. After a 2-1 defeat, with mostly inexperienced players, they won five games at a stretch. It includes wins against Aston Villa (2-1) and RB Leipzig (3-1).
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund had an eventful summer. The club were left with big holes to fill after the likes of Karim Adeyemi, Niklas Süle and Julian Brandt left.
Their pre-season was pretty average. After back-to-back defeats, the team registered two wins, including one against Premier League winners Arsenal, and a draw.
This clash will kind of show what each team is made of ahead of the Bundesliga 2026-27 season.

Kompany gave the green light to a starting XI that featured Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz in attack. The bench also included new forward signing Ismael Saibari. But a familiar name was missing.
Jamal Musiala didn’t make the cut for today’s DFL-Supercup match. The player was in action during pre-season games, though. However, they are mostly remembered for the player’s two collapses.
Musiala collapsed to the ground in two pre-season outings. One against RB Leipzig and again when they faced 1. FC Heidenheim. The player did give a social media response that he was doing ok.
Later, the club officials revealed that it was happening due to side effects from medicine treatment. The doctors are monitoring his recovery. The club doesn’t want to hamper his health.
They will wait until everything is settled and he is cleared to return to the pitch.
