Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to rebuild Old Trafford
AI helped bring Manchester United’s new “Wembley of the North” to life, fulfilling Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s aim of constructing a stadium that can compete with any in all of Europe.
He has assembled a task committee including Gary Neville and Lord Sebastian Coe as its chair to find an answer to United’s stadium problem. A £1 billion makeover for Old Trafford could be necessary, but Ratcliffe wants something bigger and better. On the location of the current stadium, he plans to erect a new building that will include restaurants and retail establishments under the United banner.
And the focal point would be a New Trafford with room for 100,000 fans. Ratcliffe anticipates that his ‘Wembley of the North’ proposal would encourage government support, but the ambitious scheme may cost between £1 and $2 billion.Ratcliffe is a huge admirer of the recently refurbished Bernabeu, and he might find ideas at the US locations of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and fields.
With the use of the AI programme Midjourney, OLBG has realised its suggested vision, and the outcomes are astounding.

One option envisions a massive lower deck similar to Wembley, but instead of being bowled like The Emirates, it will have four separate stands.
However, the images also feature a roof, which gives them a US NFL stadium feel. Another has a glass exterior with curved stands at the top, seemingly modelled after Tottenham’s state-of-the-art arena.
One might make a compelling case that renovating the stadium as it currently stands—it was built in 1910—would only be a temporary solution. It might cost approximately £800 million to expand the existing 74,000-seat stadium, while a new one could cost between £1 billion and £2 billion.
INEOS is constructing a new £5 billion chemical facility in Antwerp, Belgium, and has experience securing funds for large-scale infrastructure projects. It would be necessary to come to a funding agreement with the Glazers, the majority owners, who are reportedly willing to allow INEOS to take the lead.
