Al Ittihad are pursuing Manchester City custodian Ederson as the Brazilian looks to leave the Premier League winners.
The Argentine Marcelo Gallardo-coached Al Ittihad team features former Liverpool player and buddy of Ederson, Fabinho, as well as former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema, though the French striker is anticipated to go this summer.
The 30-year-old Ederson’s season was cut short against Tottenham earlier this month due to an eye socket fracture, but he has been thinking about taking on a new challenge.
Since Ederson is one of the top goalkeepers in Europe and still has two years remaining on his contract, the Saudi Pro League has been interested in him for more than a year. However, they are hesitant to overpay and are reportedly willing to make an initial offer of £25 million.
Al Nassr have also reportedly expressed interest in replacing David Ospina, whose contract expires this summer.
Since joining Manchester City in 2017, Ederson has played 332 games and taken home six Premier League and Champions League championships. During that period, City has additionally won four League Cups and two FA Cups.
In Ederson’s absence, Stefan Ortega has played for City and contributed significantly against Tottenham. Alejandro Garnacho opened the score for Manchester United in the FA Cup final, though, thanks to a mix-up combining Ortega and Josko Gvardiol. Erik ten Hag’s team went on to win the title.

With one round of games left, Al Ittihad are presently ranked sixth in the Saudi Pro League. On Monday, they will play an away match against Al Nassr, the team that Cristiano Ronaldo plays for, to end their campaign.
Ederson has to temporarily move past the disappointment of not making Brazil’s Copa America team—an enforced absence resulting directly from his facial injury.
The blow is the most recent for the former Benfica goalie, who was previously substituted at halftime during City’s 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in April. In March, he missed a month of play due to a thigh injury sustained at Anfield.
