Argentina reveal squad for March international friendlies in US

The World Champions will face Costa Rica and El Salvador
With the Copa América and the Paris Olympics in consideration, Lionel Messi will captain an Argentina team that includes four individuals under the age of twenty in two friendlies in the United States in March.
Coach Lionel Scaloni’s lineup, which included 19-year-old left back and midfielder Valentín Barco, was surprising in more ways than one. He joined Brighton fewer than two months ago, and since then, the English Premier League team has benefited from his presence.
The other three youngsters in the world champion team were forwards: Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United, Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton, and Valentín Carboni from Monza.Ángel Di María, a 16-year international, appears eager to compete in the Copa and Olympics, as suggested by his selection.
The Argentina Football Association announced on Thursday that Argentina would take on Costa Rica at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum just four days afterwards and El Salvador at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field on March 22. Due to visa concerns, Argentina’s matchup with Nigeria was rescheduled from its initial Los Angeles date to one week later.

The captain of Argentina, Lionel Messi, is expected to miss Inter Miami’s Major League Soccer match on 23 March against the New York Red Bulls.Argentina will play two friendlies in March instead of the China visit, which was postponed due to Messi’s absence from Miami’s preseason match in Hong Kong. Argentina was supposed to play Ivory Coast in Beijing and Nigeria in Hangzhou.Messi announced that he was sidelined with a groyne injury before Miami’s friendly versus a local all-star team in Hong Kong on February 4. This news infuriated the crowd. Three days later, he participated in an exhibition match against Vissel Kobe in Tokyo.
