The Belgium midfielder is linked with a Man City exit
By acknowledging he’s intrigued by a move to Saudi Arabia, Kevin De Bruyne has given the strongest indication yet that he may decide to leave Manchester City.
Even nine years after making a high-profile transfer from Wolfsburg, the Belgian playmaker is still an important member of the Etihad Stadium side. This season, he assisted Manchester City in winning the Premier League once more.
He has acknowledged that, with only a year remaining on his deal, he would have to contemplate transferring to Saudi Arabia. Speaking with the Belgian publication HLN, De Bruyne stated:
“At my age you have to be open to everything. You’re talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career.“
“Sometimes you have to think about that. If I play there [Saudi Arabia] for two years, I will be able to earn an incredible amount of money. Before that I had to play football for 15 years.
“I may not even reach that amount yet. Then you have to think about what that could mean next. But at the moment I haven’t had to think about that yet.”
De Bruyne has just finished an incredible season. In spite of missing a significant portion of the season due to injury, the 32-year-old managed to provide six goals and eighteen assists in all competitions.
