American teenage sensation Cavan Sullivan close to joining Manchester City
The Citizens sent scouts to witness the teenager’s performance
The agreement to sign American sensation Cavan Sullivan to Manchester City is almost finalised. 2009-born talent is expected to join City from Philadelphia. Union in the upcoming years, despite interest from Real, BVB, and Bayern. Manchester City Academy has done a fantastic job developing talent.
Cavan Sullivan, 14, was being watched by Manchester City, according to the former USMNT player and current MLS Apple TV analyst. Borussia Dortmund have also entered the battle for Sullivan and were ‘very intrigued’ by the USMNT prospect.
From March 30 to April 7, 80 clubs from around the world compete in the U15 and U17 divisions of the Generation Adidas Cup. Recruiters representing every elite league and club will be in attendance, and Sullivan and the Union will be the primary focus of attention as they attempt to win the oldest age group.Regarding what follows next, Cavan Sullivan is anticipated to be brought into the fold with Union II, the first team’s MLS NEXT Pro affiliate. After that? That’s what the future will reveal, though.
Marlon LeBlanc, head coach of Union II, discussed the developing talent with the media, saying:

“Cavan is a fantastic young talent, I like to tease him that I’ve never seen a kid get built up as much as I’ve seen Cavan. He’s so down to earth, all of this extra hype that goes on about him, it doesn’t get to his head and I think that’s what is fantastic about him. It’s what also allows him to come into our environment and still be great and still be bold.”
“[In 2024,] you’ll see him with us [Philadelphia Union II] a lot, we’ve gotta be careful with him, because at the end of the day he doesn’t look like a 20-year-old pro, he’s 14 years old. So, right now, we’ve certainly overloaded him a little bit by being with us every day.
”He’s with the 17s at the moment – bring his fitness levels back up a bit and he’ll have a great GA (Generation Adidas) Cup run with them and then we’ll really start to work him in to the second-team. He’s ready for that level.”
Twellman asked if he should be starting for the first team, but it’s probably too soon for someone his age to be placed in that situation at this time. He might not even have time to find out, though, because City and Dortmund are fighting for his signing.
Ignoring the outside commotion, the adolescent will carry on with his training with the Union’s U17 squad in anticipation of the GA Cup. Scouts from City and Dortmund will be making travel arrangements to watch him play at the end of the month.
