Cavan Sullivan: Profile, playing style, scouting report
Highly-rated teenager is close to joining Manchester City
Though Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund had expressed interest, the American youngster is expected to sign with the Champions League champions.
The reigning champions of the Premier League and Champions League, Manchester City, appear to have defeated Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund in the pursuit of their acquisition of American teenager Cavan Sullivan. Currently a member of the Philadelphia Union Academy, Sullivan is one of the most exciting youngsters in football.
The story was broken by Italian reporter and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who stated that a deal was anticipated to be concluded “soon.”
Who is Cavan Sullivan?
In 2009, Cavan Sullivan was born into a Philadelphia-based family. It’s reasonable to conclude that athletic prowess runs in the bloodline. Quinn, his older brother, is a player with the Philadelphia Union and the US U-20 squad. Ronan and Declan, his 15-year-old twin siblings, are also soccer players, albeit their skills may not be as polished.
Brendan Sullivan, Cavan’s father, had a strong enthusiasm for football as well. However, Brendan claims that Cavan Sullivan’s grandpa Larry is the one who deserves the family’s passion for the lovely game.
Baseball was the main sport, followed by football, according to Larry Sullivan. But everything changed after a single trip to Vietnam. Three of Larry’s fingers were lost when he was shot in the hand.
He simply threw himself into soccer since this signalled the end of his baseball career. And this passion for the game was also picked up by the generations that followed.
Sullivan plays for the Union’s Under-17 squad despite just being 14 years old. He did, however, play in preseason matches for Philadelphia Union II, and this week, Marlon LeBlanc, the head coach of the squad, announced that he will “really start to work him into the second team” following the GA (Generation Adidas) Cup, a youth competition that takes place from March 30 to April 7.
A statement from former USMNT player and present MLS Apple TV analyst Taylor Twellman, City believes Sullivan is “the best 14-year-old in the world,” and there has already been a lot of excitement about him.
The young player may have something to give the Union’s first squad in Major League Soccer right now, according to the former attacker for the New England Revolution. Sullivan is a versatile midfielder with a left foot, and his vision and goal-scoring ability are his best attributes.Due to his German mother, he is qualified to play for Germany; but, at the age of just 13, he has already made appearances for the United States at the Under-15 level, helping the Stars and Stripes win the Under-15 CONCACAF championship last August.

Cavan Sullivan’s playing style
Cavan Sullivan competes for the Philadelphia Union U-17 team even though he is only 14 years old. Due to his quick improvement, he made appearances in preseason games for the Philadelphia Union II. Coach Marlon LeBlanc of Union II stated that following the GA Cup (a youth competition held in March and April), the outstanding player would be fully included in the team.
However, the coaches wouldn’t have much time to train with him because his move to Manchester City was virtually complete.
According to former USMNT player Taylor Twellman, Cavan is “the best 14-year-old in the world.” He went on to say that Cavan might even help the Union’s first squad in Major League Soccer. Cavan Sullivan is an elegant attacking midfield player with a left foot. He has amazing vision and a goal-oriented eye.
