Chelsea & Napoli in talks over Romelu Lukaku & Victor Osimhen swap deal

Serie A side open to sending Osimhen on season-long loan.

Chelsea and Napoli are currently discussing the transfer of Romelu Lukaku to the Serie A club and Victor Osimhen to the London club. The nature of the move could be on a season-long loan with an option to buy. 

Antonio Conte, who became Napoli’s manager this summer, wants to bring the Belgium forward to the Italian club. Conte has previously worked with him at Inter Milan. The duo helped Inter win the Serie A title.

Since then, Lukaku has been enjoyed another loan spell with the Italian club Inter Milan. After the 2022-23 season at Inter, the former Everton striker completed a season-long loan spell in the 2023-24 season at AS Roma. 

Now he could once again be on a move to a different Italian side if Napoli manages to reach an agreement with Chelsea. This exchange will also see Victor Osimhen come to West London. 

The Blues’ interest in Osimhen is no secret. They have been eager to sign him since last summer. But the striker’s huge release clause saw the club pull out of the race. However, now a transfer could be on the cards. Napoli might sanction a loan move for the Nigerian forward if Chelsea allow Lukaku to join them. 

The Blues signed Marc Guiu from Barcelona this season to address their No. 9 issue. But given that the Spanish striker hasn’t played enough first-team football, it might take some seasons to settle in the league. 

Chelsea currently need an experienced striker who can act as a guide for young players. Osimhen’s addition will also provide healthy competition for Guiu and Nicolas Jackson for the starting spot in the squad. 

Osimhen has an eye for goal and boasts impressive goalscoring attributes. His addition will give Chelsea a finishing edge in the box. Meanwhile, the Blues have been wanting to get rid of Lukaku for a whole season but couldn’t find an ideal club that would be ready to pay his asking price. 

A transfer may take place given that Napoli are eager to get the striker. Although it is questionable at the moment, it will take time to determine whether Chelsea and Napoli agree on a swap deal.
