Preview: DR Congo vs Chile prediction, odds, where to watch, time | International Friendly

Can the Leopards get the better of two-time American champions Chile in their final game before World Cup 2026?

The Omnisports Stadium Source in Orleans, France, gears up to host the international friendly fixture between former African champions DR Congo and American heavyweights Chile.

The Democratic Republic of Congo are back at the grandest stage of football after a long wait of over five decades. Though a sudden Ebola outbreak in Congo and isolation guidelines have affected their preparations, they are determined to make the upcoming World Cup a memorable one.

They are drawn alongside Portugal, Uzbekistan and Colombia in a difficult group. They are playing the upcoming friendly behind closed doors in France against Chile. They are coming after a goalless draw against Euro 2024 semi-finalists Denmark in the last game.

Its now been back-to-back three editions where Chile will not be playing the FIFA World Cup after last playing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The La Roja were lackluster in the CONMEBOL Qualifiers after finishing at the bottom of the table with just 2 wins in 18 games.

They are coming after a 2-1 defeat to Portugal, and the squad eyes a complete revamp. They are led by Nicolás Córdova, who took over the reins after Ricardo Gareca parted ways.

Kick-off:

  • Location: Orleans, France
  • Stadium: Omnisports Stadium Source
  • Date: Tuesday, June 9
  • Kick-off time: 8:30 p.m. IST
  • Referee: TBD
  • VAR: In use

Players to Watch

Yoane Wissa (DR Congo)

DR Congo squad for AFCON 2025: Yoane Wissa not called-up, Aaron Wan-Bissaka included

From surviving an acid attack five years ago to leading his country’s attacking lineup in the World Cup for the first time in over five decades, Wissa has come a long way. He made a high-profile switch from Brentford to Newcastle United in the English Premier League.

He had a decent season with the Magpies, where he had around 5 goal contributions in 28 games. He is coming after a brilliant qualifier campaign where he propelled Congo to the FIFA World Cup.

This will be Yoane Wissa’s most anticipated debut at the FIFA World Cup in his late twenties. He will be keen to make the most of this opportunity and score a lot of goals against tough opponents like Portugal and Colombia.

Gabriel Suazo (Chile)

From being an academy player in Colo Colo to captaining the most successful side in Chilean football, Suazo will be tasked with the responsibility to carry forward the legacies of Chilean stars like Vidal and Sanchez, as he is a perfect mix of youth flair and experience.

After playing for years in Chile, he switched to Europe when Toulouse offered him a contract, where he played almost a century of games before finding his new home in Sevilla in the Spanish top flight.

He is coming after a decent season in La Liga. His stamina to make those overlapping runs from the left flank makes him absolutely dangerous in the wings.
