Euro 2024: Will Bruno Fernandes start for Portugal against Czechia?

Portugal were eliminated in the round of 16 of the last Euro.
The 2016 Euro champions and one of the contenders for Euro 2024, Bruno Fernandes’ Portugal, face Czechia in Leipzig on Tuesday to begin their quest for glory. The other teams in Group F are Turkey and Georgia.
On their route to Euro 2024, Portugal enjoyed a perfect record of ten victories from ten games in the 2023–24 UEFA European Championship Qualifying, scoring a mammoth 36 goals in the process and conceding a mere two goals, making it a successful campaign. Cristiano Ronaldo spearheaded this exciting Portugal side with 10 goals, finishing second in the top scorer’s chart.
Bruno Fernandes looks set to start vs Czechia
After an early Round of 16 exit at Euro 2020 and a disappointing club campaign at Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes looks set to be the central creative figure for Portugal this summer in Germany.
In an underwhelming United side, Fernandes was one of the few bright spots who led his team to an impressive FA Cup triumph over local rivals Manchester City, adding a much-needed silver lining to an otherwise disastrous Manchester United season.
For Portugal, Fernandes has been the primary creative force in attack, accumulating an impressive 14 goal contributions (six goals and eight assists) in just ten qualifying round games.

With his consistent world-class showings, Bruno Fernandes is expected to kick-start the Euro tournament in his preferred no. 10 role. With the assistance of amazing players such as Joao Felix, Ruben Dias and Diogo Jota, Fernandes will be looking to replicate his past performances and help Portugal lift their second Euro crown in three editions.
Portugal have participated in eight editions of the Euros and advanced past the group stage in every single one. They enjoy an impressive record in the group stages of the competition (P24, W13, D7, L4), having achieved an unbeaten group stage performance four times (1984, 1996, 2000, 2016).
