Former Leeds United star urges players to avoid joining Lionel Messi's Inter Miami

Messi started a transfer revolution by joining the MLS club in 2023.

In a stinging tirade, a former Premier League player has warned players against joining Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.

After a fantastic career with FC Barcelona and a brief stint at Paris Saint-Germain, Messi joined the MLS team in 2023 and has since become their indispensable player.

Soon after winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner joined David Beckham’s team, which was established in 2018.

However, a defender who previously played for Leeds United in the English Premier League says that things aren’t all sunshine and roses.

Mateusz Klich, 35, played 195 games for Leeds between 2017 and 2023. He was a standout player under Marcelo Bielsa, making 82 appearances in the English top tier overall.

Klich has played for teams like DC United and Atlanta United in America after departing Leeds. However, he has now criticised Messi.

“I don’t recommend Miami as long as Messi is there,” Klich said via Foot Truck.

“It’s a disaster. People are leaving, coaches and physiotherapists are leaving. Organisationally, it’s bad.

“Messi’s father essentially runs the club. Everyone speaks Spanish, and nothing can be done without their consent. The club itself is also 45 to 50 minutes away from Miami.”

In his 76 games so far, Lionel Messi has scored 64 goals and provided 31 assists for Inter Miami. In his career, he has only faced Klich once, in May 2024. However, Klich has faced Miami three times overall.

The Poland international has criticised Messi and suggested others are better off with a rival team instead.
