Aubameyang’s return has boosted the team’s chances of progressing
The Gabon national football team has announced its roster for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier matches against Ivory Coast and Gambia. The addition of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who has been on fire this season for Marseille seems to be a much needed boost for the Panthers who lacked his goal-scoring during the recently concluded AFCON where they did not qualify from the group stage.
Thierry Mouyouma has named a 28-man roster that on paper looks like a strong team that has the potential to top their group F consisting of reigning African champions Ivory Coast. Having Aubameyang back on board will help the team gain a competitive edge going into the qualifiers.
The Gabon National Football Team has never qualified for the World Cup but Thierry Mouyouma has assembled one of the strongest squads in their history this time and it remains to be seen whether they can make it. In addition to the Lemina brothers, Noah and Mario, Denis Bounga is also there in the squad who is lighting up the MLS with his goals. They are in a good position to lead them this season with Aubameyang as their leader.
The Panthers are one of the favourites to qualify from group F, but they will have to guard against the threat of Ivory Coast, Kenya, and the Gambia. This is probably Aubameyang’s last chance to prove himself on the world stage.
