Messi will be out for some time after suffering a minor injury.

Inter Miami have confirmed that Lionel Messi has picked up a minor muscle injury in his right leg, and his recovery will define his return to action.

Messi had to walk off the pitch after the forward suffered an injury early in the game against Mexico’s Necaxa on Saturday in a Leagues Cup match, which they won on penalties.

The Argentine forward sustained the injury in the 11th minute of the game and went straight to the locker room after he was told he could not continue playing.

Inter Miami confirm injury to Messi and provides updates

Following the scans, Inter Miami released a statement concerning his injury and said:

”Inter Miami CF today has provided an injury update presented by Baptist Health for Inter Miami CF captain Leo Messi.”

”Messi underwent medical tests to evaluate the extent of the muscle discomfort he experienced during last night’s Leagues Cup match against Necaxa, which forced him to leave the field.”

”The results confirmed a minor muscle injury in his right leg. His medical clearance will depend on his clinical progress and response to treatment.”

The club’s verdict on the player’s injury reveals that there is no specific timeline for the Argentine’s return, and his comeback to action will only depend on how quickly he recovers from the said injury.

Considering it’s a minor injury, the club will hope to have their star player back soon. Otherwise longer period on the sidelines will be a major problem for the team, given they will enter the crucial stage of the season and are fighting to defend the Supporters’ Shield.

Meanwhile, Messi has continued to impress with his terrific form, netting 18 goals in 18 Major League Soccer matches and leading the club to many victories across several competitions. It’s a shame that another injury has once again put things on pause for the time being, and we won’t be able to watch him for a while now.
