The world wants to know Messi’s every movement, particularly football fans.

A well-known chap who goes by the name of Lionel Messi collected his 46th trophy in the last game for his club. Tata Martino’s team Inter Miami will next face Toronto FC on the road before heading into the October international break. It is all pleasant with the Miami camp, particularly after winning the MLS Supporters’ Shield.

Lionel Messi scored a beautiful free kick in the game against Columbus Crew. That Supporter’s Shield victory was a hard-fought battle though. With a 3-2 end to the game in favour of the Herons, the MLS game was really high-octane stuff nonetheless.

The Argentinian maestro scored a brace and played the full length of the game at the Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio. Next up for them are just two regular-season games before they venture into the playoffs. The first of that will be played against Toronto ahead of the October international break.

With Lionel Messi ready to boost Argentina’s winning chances against Venezuela and Bolivia in mid-October, fans have a straightforward question – will the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner feature in the MLS fixture against Toronto FC before that? Well, things aren’t that simple, is it?

We have seen coach Martino focus on Messi’s well-being in the past. He knows they will be playing the playoffs unquestioned, so why would he risk Messi or not give him rest?

Inter Miami, well, could target the 73 points MLS record of the New England Revolution which has been in place since 2021. The Herons are at 68 points now, and with two wins from their last two regular games, they can set a new record of 74 points.

The club would love to achieve this historic feat, and Messi playing the game does make things easier. Well, they could also think about it from a different angle, at least in this match. Toronto FC will be without two big stars in this game – Federico Bernardeschi is suspended while Lorenzo Insigne is dealing with his calf ailment. The team could take these things into consideration. Lionel Messi is more likely to play a substitute role than start and play the full 90 minutes.
